How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

The pine litter I use is Feline Pine. His alternate box has a combination of that and his regular clay litter. Both boxes are the senior type that are low to the floor with an opening in the middle.

How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

I tried just wet food a few days ago and he wasn't very happy. I can afford an all-wet food diet. That's not a problem. I am concerned that if I upset him by trying this again he might get so upset his tummy will get worse. I have the exact opposite problem (IBS-D) and stress makes it much...

How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

I never heard of such a remedy. This will sound stupid, but are you referring to raw or cooked yolks? I will order some more eggs today. I have a delivery coming later and can add this to it. Thank you!

How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

Sorry for my late response. The past week or so has been very difficult due to not only his issues, but my health isn't that great either. I'm trying to get caught up with this thread. Pumpkin is a very picky eater. What he will like one day he might hate the next. For a long time he loved...

How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

He is drinking very well, this is what gets me. I am stumped. I doubt that I can get him to take water by the spoon but I can try that. The only other option at this point is to feed him all wet food. Absolutely no crunchy stuff at all. He will get upset with me but I don't know what else...

How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

Pumpkin eats a combination of wet and dry food but he prefers dry. He has senior cat chow, indoor cat chow (supposedly good for hairballs) and his favorite is kitten chow, which I started to feed him a couple of years ago to help him gain weight I have pill pockets but he stopped liking them...

How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

Pumpkin never seems to have an issue with peeing. As for pooping, he recently had his Miralax increased but it's getting harder for get him to take his meds. I am at a loss. He won't even take his antacid pill in one of those pocket treats. It worked a couple of times and that's it. I...

Pumpkin had another weird episode overnight...not sure what to make of this - long post

Sorry about my late response. It's been a very hard week, mostly due to my health issues. I had a very severe panic attack that almost got me in the hospital. He's not throwing up but my baby is getting constipated again. I'm trying to figure out how to change his litter boxes to make them...

How can I get my elderly cat to like his pine pellets box? Has chronic constipation

My senior kitty, who I posted about not long ago because of his chronic constipation issues, has two boxes available to him. One is clay litter (non clumping only) and pine pellets. I noticed that a couple of times he tried using pine pellets because he must have felt uncomfortable in the...

Pumpkin had another weird episode overnight...not sure what to make of this - long post

This is what I am trying to do now, I'm giving him more space today. My first instinct when this happened was to let him know I was there for him and he wasn't alone. i guess that he didn't like it. I am a "helicopter mommy," in other words, I tend to hover.....only because I love him to...

Pumpkin had another weird episode overnight...not sure what to make of this - long post

What surprised me about Pumpkin's pooping was that I didn't hear him do the usual scratching around his box before and after like he usually does. It wasn't covered up at all, which suggests he was in a hurry to get out of his box. I didn't know that with cats, vomiting can cause drooling. I...

Pumpkin had another weird episode overnight...not sure what to make of this - long post

Several weeks ago I posted about what a vet thought was some kind of transient stress episode that caused him to get lethargic, drool etc. He snapped out of it and seemed fine, and was recently to his vet again for constipation issues. They found nothing wrong with him and sent him home. Last...

    Possible anxiety induced vomit

My senior kitty (probably around 15) will sometimes scarf and barf too, although t not as much as he used to. As for dietary changes, make sure they are done gradually so as to not upset his tummy. You could try Purina Gentle dry food, it's one of the brands that my cat eats. There are...

My cat's constipation is getting worse & I have no way to get him to the vet

His appt went well but he had another weird spell overnight. I'm going to start a different thread about it because I don't think it belongs here. I am very worried.

At what point does one realize it's time to let go of their fur baby? I'm not ready to yet.

When I first heard of Megacolon (not long after I adopted Pumpkin) it scared me because I thought that if his issues persisted, he may one day have to deal with it. Sorry if I sound panicky, I am worried sick about him. I know how painful severe constipation can be due to my having it really...
