I've been using s'wheat scoop but the online store I order from is too expensive. I want to change litter to one found on amazon.ca.
What litter is most like s'wheat scoop? I bought Garfield but it's white, and very un-litter-like.
A bit of history: Poppy was declawed (not by me!) years ago...
I wash the kitchen floor with vinegar + water. Have done that for years! I'll continue on with Dawn + vinegar + water for the litterbox. Forget the Sal Suds.
I've been cleaning Poppy's litterbox with a spray of vinegar + Dawn + water. I want to change the vinegar + Dawn to Sal Suds.
Is it safe to clean a litterbox with Sal Suds?
I've been popping the covers off the Weruva and tins of Fancy Feast, but am finding it hard to do that due to arthritis in my hands. I occasionally use a manual can opener, but wondered if there's a recommendation for a cheap electric can opener that opens the Fancy Feast tin and the Weruva...
Poppy gets canned food. I've always understood you shouldn't leave wet (canned) cat food out much more than an hour.
Poppy does better with smaller meals, and I'm retired so I can cater to her schedule. I feed her 4 or 5 small meals over the day. I immediately remove food from tins and...
I'm curious about the re-heating, Augie. First time I've read you should not heat cat food in the microwave because it kills taurine. Poppy does better with small meals, so I feed her 4 or 5 times a day. I remove food from tins and put in glass dishes with lids, and keep in the fridge. I do nuke...
Thanks again for your suggestions, Tobermorey. I long ago tried Wellness Core dry cat food (the smallest package) as treats, and wasted my money. Poppy didn't go for that at all! But maybe she just didn't like the flavor of Wellness?
I'll try Stella & Chewy "Chick Chick Chicken Dinner." A 3.5...
Thanks for responding, Tobermorey.
I've tried Pure Bites, both "as is" and moistened a little. Poppy sniffs at them and walks away. Amazon.ca wants over $17 for 5 oz of Stella & Chewy's. I was looking for something a little cheaper. I may have to resort to baking and freezing chicken (I'm...
I'm looking for suggestions for cat treats easily available in Canada.
Poppy is a picky eater, and she's also fish-sensitive (she gets a running sore on her face when she eats foods containing fish of any kind). So I've become a reader of food labels and we've long since settled on her wet...
Poppy, a former shelter cat, has been with me for 5 years. Based on the recommendation of the shelter vet, I spent a fortune on various water fountains that Poppy ignored. I've put water bowls next to her food bowl, I've tried them across the room and in different rooms.
I've never seen Poppy...
Thanks, again, Margo. I think I'll try the Nutrience (provided the label doesn't show it contains anything nasty.) Nutrience is made in Canada and easier to find than the U.S. - made Kittles Chicken.
Hi MargoLane,
Thanks for replying. We've already tried PureBites a few times ... Poppy walked away from the dish I put her treats in. Wouldn't touch freeze-dried anything, altho' I tried a few different brands. She's also refusing Blue Buffalo Wilderness treats.
Are you in Canada? I'm...
Thanks for replying, mrsgreenjeens. Amazon.com doesn't ship the Wholelife to Canada. Wholelife at amazon.ca is $18 + $6 shipping for 1 ounce. I like my cat, and want to give her treats but ...
When I e-mailed Wellness I got this back in reply:
"Thank you for taking the time to write to us...
Thanks, Lari, for pointing out tuna is the first ingredient. I won't be risking the Tuna or Salmon Kittles, I guess.
Re the freeze-dried treats, Poppy's turned up her nose at PureBites and Benny Bully's when I've tried those a few times. She also won't eat the Blue Wilderness chicken & turkey...
Poppy develops sores on her face with wet (canned) food containing fish so she gets poultry-only food. I know cats don't need treats, but I'd like to give her the occasional treat, too.
I've long since weaned her off the Temptations, which she loved, but I wasn't impressed with the ingredients...
Thanks to both for replying. The storage tubs (higher walls than an ordinary litter box?) are the same price here (Canada) as a high-walled (9 inch) litter box, so I guess price-wise it doesn't matter if I get either.
The second option ... the dog crate tray ... seems pricey at first, but looks...
Poppy is a former shelter cat, with me now for 5 years+. She still doesn't like to be picked up and still "poops" outside her litter box (the latter a longstanding behavior, possibly related to her being declawed by former owners). After several days of trial and error when she first got here, I...
