Newborn with intestines on the OUTSIDE of its body?!?

aww poor wee thing, while you can put them back in it had to be done slowly as their other organs would shift, leaving little room, just a little bit each day and what is on the outside needs to be kept sterile, since it had already been exposed to air and the mom and other babies, it would have...

Chewing the nipples off the bottles!

at 9 weeks old I would be doing away with the bottles for safety issues, yes they probably will pass without any issues but I wouldn't want to take that chance.....if she is reluctant to give up her bottles, maybe just give her water bottles, it will be much less appealing than formula is and I...

It can't be more than 8 weeks...

what everyone else said..I used to have gliders as well, Joey was my first, Abby my 2nd, used to live in my bra by day and in her cage by night. Joey was amazing, but the bond i had with Abby was incredible. Many nights she woke me up barking lol...My own fault though for getting up and playing...

    ever heard or seen this?

After a very long night, we were finally bale to get Scout and his sister Whitney into the vet. It was determined that his anus and rectum were not properly connected, therefore thats why he was unable to poop, no matter how he tried he just couldn't. His gender wasn't determinable either. He...

    ever heard or seen this?

I had 2 new rescues dropped off tonight, one of very normal looking about 4-5 weeks but probably closer to 4. Very clearly you can see that this wee one is a girl. The next one I think is a boy but its really hard to tell he has a very tiny urethral opening, like super small, I had to really...

A very sick little kitten :( - please help me

Hi, I do Kitten rescue and in June got the teeniest baby (thats how he got his name, my daughter was terrified thinking that I had a mouse in a basket rather than a kitten) handed to me with symptoms very much like you describe. It took so much work, time, patience and love to get my mouse...

    Should I put her down?

there is something you can get at the vets that will add calories to her diet, I give it to malnourished bottle feeders all the time. I would ask your vet about that. Perhaps maybe a higher protein food might help. I wouldn't think she is falling over because she is skinny, as the weight was...

    Should I put her down?

Nobody here will be able to tell you when the time is right. I honestly believe that when its time you will know, there will be no doubts, or regrets, you won't ever wonder 'if than was the right time", deep in your soul you will just know. It's not an easy decision but we don't know your cat...

    Mother cat moving kittens

it's possible that the move from where she was to where she s now, is unsettling to her. Cats moms are protective of her babies and she hasn't had much time to get adjusted to being at your home, she is probably scared and nervous. She doesn't know you either so again is probably unsure and...

    5 week old kitten care.

at 5 weeks old this baby should be eating canned food, and getting ready to rid the last of the bottles. I let my fosters decide when to earn but generally they are fully done by 5 weeks. I have had a few that were longer to give up nighttime bottles, but they did by 6 weeks. As for using the...

Five week old kittens and wet food

I feed my foster babies 4x a day with wet food, and they always have access to dry and water though both of those they tend to make toys out of instead...I feed them till they walk away, than they usually play for a bit and than snooze and wake up about 4 hrs later.

    Stray cat

are you 100% certain that he isn't someones pet? Sometimes when Animal are found they are really loved pets that just got misplaces either by a move or a daily outing etc etc....I would put up ads without giving to many details on him, they would have to be able to give you some markings etc in...

How do you know when to let go?

aww I'm sorry....I think when the time is right (not that it ever is but ykwim?) you will just know. Deep down in your heart of hearts, despite the pain and brokenness of said heart, you will just know. The questions will be gone and you will just know....

    Diabetic Cat

not sure whether this is against the rules or not BUT I use insulin and often have leftovers of humalog and lantus, kept in the fridge it lasts until the expiry date, out of the fridge its only good for 28 days. I keep mine in the fridge. I was giving my leftovers to the rescue I foster for but...

    Urine..

chances are that since his diet is wet foods, he is getting enough water through that, he probably doesn't feel thirsty enough to drink more. As far as his output goes, as long as he is going he is also probably fine. If you feel he might be a but dehydrated, you can do the pinch test, pinch a...

    lost a baby

just got off the phone with the vet, one of her lungs was partially collapsed (don't understand partially, thought it was all or nothing but w/e) and her on one of her heart chambers the wall was thinner than it should have been. They are saying it was a congenital heart defect. I'm happy about...

    lost a baby

We lost one of the baby girls that were dropped off to me the other day. No idea what happened to her. At 6:30 this morning my daughter and I were watching them, I was asking how they could all be so wide awake at such at early hr. All 9 kittens were zipping along, playing, jumping, etc etc...

    9 new bottle feeders...

these babies are older than first thought. They were lied about to our director in order to get them out of the place that houses them for 3 days minimum, than after their 3 days are up they get euthanized. All 9 babies, 3 girls 6 boys, are eating on their own, have their canines. Because of...

Quick question on normal kitten breathing and heart rate

if its after play I wouldn't be concerned. Kittens and cats will change breathing patterns as they sleep as well. If gums are pink and not pale and she seems fine, i don't think I would worry to much.
