I don't get why you're getting so stressed out about it - just leave out some dry food for him.  Give him treats (temptations, etc) to encourage eating beforehand.  Try some probiotic yogourt? My cat loves yogourt, lol.

My cat was also just diagnosed with kidney failure.  I was wondering what medications and supplements you currently have your cat on? Besides the sub-q fluids. I am giving my cat fluids, but looking for more options to help him with this condition.

Oh I also forgot to say that his diarrhea has now completely gone away :) I've been feeding him probiotic yogourt every day and I guess that did the trick... so relieved!!

Ok, so good news...I priced out the dental cleaning and surgery with my vet and it doesn't seem to be all that expensive afterall... Today I received a donation toward Smokey's procedure and my mom said she will pay the remainder so I plan to have him in around the second week of Dec to get it...

I also wanted to mention that my cat has always been overly enthusiastic about drinking water, his entire life.... now just recently, for maybe 2-3 weeks now he rarely drinks it.  What could this mean? I already add a ton of water to his wet food to help him with eating because of his rotten...

@ sweetpea24; I did correct myself on that - clavamox was not prescribed for the anemia, but because he has an infection in his blood (likely due to the rotten teeth). I was told that when cats show signs of kidney failure, the kidneys have already lost 75% of their function.  I confirmed with...

I don't feel right feeding him an all wet diet though, as he lost quite a bit of weight while eating only canned... Now that he is eating some dry too, he has definitely got his weight back up.

Well I feel like a dumbass now! I actually didn't end up buying Royal Canin - I went for the Wellness instead. :p I just flushed a big bowl of moistened dry food that I had in the fridge down the toilet..waste of money but oh well...don't need him getting sicker than he already is. Thank you...
