    Computer difficulties.

Sorry, I don't quite understand your issue. Do you mean to say that you can't navigate from one page to another using both Firefox and IE? If so, can you attach a screenshot? Also, make sure there are no toolbars or add-ons installed to either program - look in your lis of programs adn uninstall...

    Computer Issues

These scams are becoming more and more prominent as of late. They are known as ransomware and can infect your PC through any vulnerability such as through a Java 0day/exploit. If you use/d Internet Explorer, I highly recommend switching to another browser as Internet Explorer automatically runs...

Pop UP Bugging Me and Slowing down My Computer

Increasing the maximum script loading time may actually help and disabling certain scripts from running will definitely help. I would also recommend downloading AdBlock Plus as this will disable the script from running at all since the script is advertisement-related. Firefox's KB recommends...

Pop UP Bugging Me and Slowing down My Computer

That's not any sort of advertisement pop-up just to let you know. It's perfectly normal, in a way, it appears in Firefox after a script stops responding for whatever reason. I no longer use Firefox unless I'm testing my web development skills so I can't really help here. If you could supply me...

    Global Security Threat: UPnP Vulnerability

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security urged computer users on Tuesday to disable a common networking technology feature, after researchers warned that hackers could exploit flaws to gain access to tens of millions of vulnerable devices. Approximately 50 million devices are said to be...

    Floppies???

I know that you can still use them, even with modern motherboards which have Floppy disk cables, and you can still buy them on sites such as eBay.  It's really your choice, if you need to use removable media on multiple PC's then you should go with something with larger storage, if you like the...

    Java again! (12 January 2013)

Sorry if I came across as rude in my post, that wasn't my intention. I just really dislike it when people without any sort of qualifications think they know better than experienced, qualified members of the IT community. Once again, I apologise if I came across as rude in the above post.

    Java again! (12 January 2013)

Are these people certified in any way that makes you believe them? I KNOW that Java can be used against the user and has been numerous times, drive-by downloads exist and trust me, these can be pretty bad, I've fixed many PC's that have been infected through drive-by downloads, some from Java...

    Java again! (12 January 2013)

As a programmer that writes Java, I am shocked as this seems to happen almost once a month. Needless to say, Java has been disabled on Chrome, thanks for the info Tricia, I was out of the country for a week and was not able to check any security sites.

How do I get rid of a pop-up site?

OP DO NOT use ComboFix without instructions from an IT professional, it can ruin your PC. Trust me, it's happened. Instead of using ComboFix straight away I would recommend a scan with Malwarebytes and seeing if that finds anything.

Anybody here build computers/have a custom built computer?

That's a pretty nice build, I've been wanting to build a new PC for a year or so now. I have a few rigs purpose build for gaming that I should dig out and I'll share them. Great photos by the way, really professional.

To blog or not to blog

I tried blogging, got very bored of it after a while and I couldn't think of anything to add to it. If you have something to say I think it's a good idea, good luck with it!

    Java viruses

You most likely disabled Java and did not remove it, it can still become infected and possibly was after it was disabled. Oracle/Sun recommends that you update to the latest JRE, very annoying to do as these exploits happen often. ETA: If you want some more information on the exploit...

Is it the computer or the monitor?

^ This. I highly doubt it's malware if MBAM didn't detect anything. Try booting into safe mode with networking, press repeatedly or hold F8 at startup and select Safe Mode with Networking. It will start loading drivers, essential Windows drivers and networking drivers. If your PC crashes there...

    Enhancing my tech/computer skills

I would classify myself as a techie, fix errors and build software for computers as well as a little maintenance. I have used Dreamweaver in the past, it's quite user friendly and is good for developing webpages, if you want to learn HTML, I'd be happy to teach you. Good luck!

Connecting to Wireless with HP Pavillion X16

Minka is correct, I've had troubles connecting to my wireless networks at home using my work laptop, using a home laptop should be fine although using a work laptop is a little different, what with certain restrictions and such.
