Welcome to TCS. We are very pleased that you have decided to join us, and any imput you have from your knowledge will be greatly appreciated. You'll find many wonderful people around here who love to talk about our beloved pets, and also share anything we know about keeping our felines healthy...
I'd say that as long as the part of the house you're letting them roam in is cat safe. No poisonous chemicals or anything they can get choked on, etc...But as far as falling, most cats learn through instinctual behavior how to survive and cope with a fall. Of course this doesn't work in all...
Milo has a higher-pitched, breathing purr. I call it a "breathing purr" because his purrs come out in short bursts that coincide with him exhaling. If I pet him in a really good spot, like on his chest, his purrs often have a small warbling noise behind them. Kind of like he's cooing or...
An abcess is a painful infection site that forms around a cut, slice, or puncture wound. The eventual infection can cause immobility, fever, lethargy, and many of the symptoms you are describing. I'm not 100% sure on this, your vet should be able to tell you. If you can't get him to somewhere...
Milo is 8 months old. At around the 6 month mark, he started to become incredibly mischevious--getting into things, knocking stuff off the desks when we aren't there, climbing, and being indignant when we correct bad behavior. Such a teenage male...
If she'll let you, open her mouth to see if there's anything caught in her teeth or in the back of the mouth that she's trying to dislodge with her tongue/mouth movement.
If she is fine behavior wise, health wise, eating properly, sleeping, using the bathroom, and playing like normal, then I...
This sounds similar to the issue that another cat had that I worked with at a vet I was emplyed for. However, he was a wild bobcat kitten, but since they are related I'd assume it to be some sort of mildly genetic defect in felines. He would have siezures as well, followed by temporary...
I have made an appointment with the Poultry Science unit on my university's campus. He is an associate dean in our college of agriculture. I'll ask him about the percentages of bone in chicken, and tell him some of the stuff the USDA has told me, plus the websites y'all linked. I think he should...
Ah yeah....this Friday left a bittersweet taste in my mouth. I went to one of the biggest college football rivalries there are, the Iron Bowl [University of Alabama vs. Auburn University]. My team Auburn were the underdogs, yet we kept the lead for most of the game, 14 points at one point! This...
When should I transition Milo from his kitten diet to his adult diet? The first time I took him to a vet since I got him, they were terrible and didn't even age him right. Last week I got the opportunity to take him to my hometown to see a vet I trusted. She said he was 8 months old, which is...
I would discuss this with another vet. They should palpate for any pain. And perhaps take some X-Rays to see how it effects Ringo. Asking for a second opinion when you doubt your vet's is essential.
I have some experience with something similar to you. My neighbor's dog broke his hip while he...
I had a firsthand experience with this the other day! I left Milo at home while I went to pick up something a relative had for me, but couldn't come down to give to me. I left him alone [my roommate fed/checked up on him] for more than 12 hours for the first time [I was gone from Friday...
Tell me about it. It's as if all the "fees" included sometimes cancel out the certificate in the first place!
As far as the price quotes...perhaps I should have mentioned it was in my state, Alabama. I don't really know of price variation in other states that much...I don't know why there would...
As a vet student [don't look at me for authority, I have 6 more years to go in school and I'm young, look to another vet with a D.V.M. for definite and trustworthy answers! Just giving advice from my general knowledge.] I don't know what that vet is thinking! That is WAY TOO MUCH strain on a...
Thanks for the help!
Milo travels okay...he sometimes looks slightly scared, but I think that's more from him not knowing what's going on more than anything. I already plan to give him a towel and a shirt with my scent on it so he feels more comfortable in the cage at the vet.
I'll just write...
Milo was originally fed Science Diet by the place I adopted him from. His poop was fairly normal and bearable on the SD, but I wanted him to have good quality food, so I switched him to Wellness canned and a dry food mix of Natural Balance and Nutro Naturals.
WHEW!
His poop stiiinnnnks. I may...
Because both my boyfriend and I will be away from our apartment for the entire week [starting this Friday] until Thanksgiving day; and I'm not allowed to bring Milo to my parent's house nor any other family's house that I'm visiting during the holiday. My boyfriend can keep him until Tuesday, so...
Thank you for your post. I'm sorry if I sounded aggressive, I really didn't mean to be! It's just something I'm passionate about, and I really apologize if I offended.
Welcome to TCS, and I hope that you find much useful information on this site. I know I have. You're a nice person and a...
I haven't really noticed a deterioration in flavor, but I could see how some would do that. I do feed him non-fish formulas [Turkey, Chicken, Beef] and from what I've noticed those don't stink too bad. Sometimes when I've tried stuff with fish in it on Milo, it stinks a little even if I seal it...
