    Have you domesticated a raccoon?

Many years ago my grandmother could hear crying under her house, after a day she sent my uncle under to find out what it was (they thought one of their cats had given birth there) Well it was a tiny baby raccoon. She rushed it to a wildlife vet, after a rabies vaccine he was good to go. He had...

my Princess has gone missing ='[

call your local animal control, SPCA, Veterinary hospitals, and do the old fashion thing, put up signs. My Milo got out a few months back and he had NEVER even been outside before. I waited and hoped he would come back-- turns out a neighbor picked him up and adopted him out to someone else...

My cat seems to love other cats???

My Ollie tries to groom everything that walks by her, feline, canine, even my lizard! I think that she's just a very loving and friendly soul (unless you're a vole in my garden)

    The 2010 clinic season begins....

I'm a foster, one of those people who come in with tons of kittens we've acquired from our rescue-- and I want to thank you guys. You rock. Having worked in a vet clinic for a while as an assistant I know first hand what your job can entail and I applaud you for continuing to do it. (I'm...

Vet says my foster cat is "Retarded"...

I have friends with Down Syndrome, It is why I dislike the use of the word to describe living things... My mother in law has a cat with CH and if anyone ever used the R word to describe him I'd have a fit about it. No, It's the people in the world who have used it to describe my friends and...

Vet says my foster cat is "Retarded"...

So... Monday Rags, one of our littlest 11 month old fosters finally got to get spayed. She's still not 3lbs but we couldn't wait any longer. Those of you who remember last year we had a lot of problems with fosters from this group (brothers, sisters, cousins all from the same horder) dying very...

How Much Is A Male Calico Going For?

I just needed my mother in law to see other people agreeing with what I told her about him. He's been neutered and adopted out to a loving home. SOME greedy grubby volunteer saw him at the clinic and flipped out, pulled him from the group and wouldn't let him get neutered that day, she called...

How Much Is A Male Calico Going For?

Thank you. I knew about xxy but the people above me (my mother in law) needed to hear it from other cat people. I can't wait to meet him though-- he's so rare he's just a cut cute-er than the rest.

How Much Is A Male Calico Going For?

Yes, I said MALE CALICO. The veterinarian confirmed it. Today at the spay/neuter clinic I'm working with he had a gentleman bring in a male calico, about 4 months old. I'm getting photos of him tonight, but we want to know what a male calico goes for to a breeder if he is not sterile.

    Update on Ollie, not good.

Well, I've given it time... Her eye is open now but the pink growth has gotten bigger and-- badder? We're going to try another medicine from Cornell. I've looked into surgery and it'll cost me about $200 to remove the eye if it comes to that. Here's an updated photo.

    Update on Ollie, not good.

The vets are back to Herpes, wants to start a new medicine after we let her eye rest a bit. I'm noticing a difference from just the Lysine but the injury still seems too pink and fleshy for Herpes to me. I'm so confused. Vets with different opinions... Later this week we will be starting...

Who on here has a special needs cat?

Mine usually steer clear of Limpy-- he falls HARD! also, FishTreatsMom... heart murmur should almost never stop the decision to go forward with altering-- unless the murmur is really severe but then there are other health problems that will go along with that. I have had several rescues (male...

    Update on Ollie, not good.

TROANT, I wish I had your optimism... sadly the vet tech inside me tells me she will be blind for life. Her eye has whited over though the trauma site is pink and fleshy, Which is weird to me but we will see what the vets say. temperpolk, the vets estimate it happened around Nov, 3rd... and...

17-year old cat-tongue hanging out and drooling?

my Nightshade who lives with my parents lost most of her teeth as a kitten due to infection that went untreated before I found her. She lives on wet food because she can't chew dry.

    Update on Ollie, not good.

(last thread, for those who want to see: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=207320) It's not her herpes. It's a puncture wound to the eye. Most likely happened around Halloween. She is in indoor/outdoor cat, and before some of you yell at me for that she's the kind of cat who will...

Who on here has a special needs cat?

physically special- we have Limpy and Tard (Tom) who are brothers who share in the same neurological disorder, Cerebellar Hypoplasia. Tom has much better motor function than Limpy, who is prone to accidents because he can't get into the litterbox. He loves to be outside in the yard. I think it...

feline herpes and eyes, need knowledge.

The vet is suspecting herpes because of her past history of RI's and conjuctivitus. I know some of the fosters have herpes so it's totally possible. The secondary diagnosis is some kind of puncture wound to the eye. I was afraid of this, Halloween having been so recently and all but didn't...

feline herpes and eyes, need knowledge.

I am kinda hoping for herpes... the alternatives seem to be far worse. I'll let you all know what they say tomorrow.

feline herpes and eyes, need knowledge.

we have 10 more still waiting to find homes. They eat mostly dry here, but sometimes we mix raw-- They get ground turkey a few times a week when I can afford it. The dry food is made by a woman in the rescue group I work with. She has put years into researching good foods. No corn or added gunk...
