I know a few breeders with teaser-tom cats. This is a retired stud who has not been neutered by castration, but has had his tubes tied, very much as they do in humans! This means that the tom will still mate the girls who are in season, "satisfying" them in the process, so that they stop calling...
This does happen! I took in a stud boy who I decided should retire. I had him neutered and allowed him to roam the house freely with my unspayed girls. Imagine my horror when he mated one of the girls just one day after his operation! I quickly phoned the vet who assured me that he may continue...
