    Anyone use Adeuqan?

Long story short.... we x-rayed Jinx yesterday to check for bladder stones since he was acting painful, and discovered no bladder stones, but he does apparently have bad spondylosis which we are assuming is the culprit. We put him on a course of Onsior to see how he does. I could see a pretty...

"Digest this: Kibble may actually digest faster than raw"

Love this. I've never mixed with my cat, but frequently feed raw/kibble together with my dogs. I never thought the myth made any sense and have never had problems with my dogs, but it's nice to see at least someone looking into it.

Cat Raw Diet, danger to humans?

Well when you consider that even kibble can be contaminated with things like salmonella..... it really just comes down to proper food handling. That said, it's not something I've ever worried about. I frequently kiss my cat on the nose after he's licked his bowl clean.

    Crystals/inappropriate urination

We'll just have to agree to disagree on the diet. I've never added supplements to his raw and am of the belief that the entire point of raw is that it's what they were designed to eat, and nothing extra is needed.

    Crystals/inappropriate urination

I guess to me that's just a labeling requirement, I don't necessarily believe a raw diet needs any added supplements as long as you are getting meat/bones/organs from a variety of protein sources. I am still feeding canned food as well and might not be sticking with Bravo long term anyway so it...

    Crystals/inappropriate urination

It's meat, bones, and organs. What's not complete about it?

    Crystals/inappropriate urination

Thank you for the info! Right now he is eating Bravo turkey. I think I have a few days left of that, and then I have their chicken formula in the freezer. I'm in the habit of adding water to everything he eats - so whether it's raw, canned, or dry, I turn it into runny soup lol so no worries...

    Crystals/inappropriate urination

Where to start! About 2 weeks ago, I brought Jinx in for his annual exam + bloodwork. Everything looks fine except he had struvite crystals in his urine, which I at least know weren't present when he had his urine checked for his annual last year. His pH was also high at 8.0, last year it was...

Has anyone here with an IBD cat ever tried holistic treatment?

I have been able to manage my cat on diet alone. I believe he had just turned 11 years old when he was diagnosed (he's 13.5 now). I know he had initially been put on metronidazole, metoclopramide, and B12 injections but those showed no improvements. We did not put him on steroids because a) I...

Foods Your Cat Eats to Reduce IBD

My guy currently eats Holistic Select Indoor/Weight Control. We're on bag 3 and he's still doing really well! (Sometimes he starts to have a flare-up after being on the same food for a while). He's also done well on - Natures Variety Instinct - chicken Natures Logic - chicken Raw - chicken...

IBD cat is picky on what he eats

It can be trial and error to find a food that he will do well on. Unfortunately, there's not really one food out there that I can say "yes, a cat with IBD will do well with this." It's different for each cat. My cat has IBD and there are a couple things he does well on: Natures Logic chicken...

Pork in cat food - what's the deal?

Huh, I've never heard of pork being an issue. My cat was raw fed for a year and the bulk of his diet was raw pork - he LOVED it and did great on it. If it weren't for pork I don't think he ever would have transitioned to raw, lol he was just really unimpressed with other meats but he thought...

    FCRVP vaccine booster?

Is this a kitten or adult? The general recommendation in the veterinary community is that they have a series of 2 or 3 vaccines as kittens, then a booster a year later, and then boostered every 3 years after that. Personally, I think the kitten series is important but after that, I think their...

Can't stop obsessing over cat's health

Same boat here! JInx has blocked twice - once in 2010 and once in 2012, so I feel like we're due this year - and it makes me sooo aware of his litter box habits. I float his kibble in water so I know he's getting plenty, but I know that at least his 2nd blockage was just caused by a mucus plug...

    Dasuquin yay or nay?

Anybody here have experience with Dasuquin? Do you feel like it helped? My boy is 13 and gets around  well and doesn't act like he's bothered. He stills runs and plays, still sneaks up on the kitchen counters. If I've noticed anything, it's just that he's a little slow with stairs. Overall...

    Average cost for teeth cleaning?

We charge $215 for a straight-forward feline dental. That includes presurgical exam, sedative/anesthesia, hospitalization for the day, and of course the cleaning itself. $85 WITH anesthesia sounds super low, but it might be normal for your area. I recommend blood work and an IV catheter for...

    Vet vaccinations.

Typically that vaccine is only recommended if the cat is going to be outdoors. Wouldn't bother with it for an indoor cat.
