That might be another step along the way, but it would take some time before we could get to a full-on raw diet, and I'd have to do way more research about that. Baby steps first!
Yeah, I kinda wish my vet suggested trying the treatment anyway, just to see where it goes...I'll make the suggestion in January when I go to get his thyroid checked.
Thank you for the website - I actually spent a good deal of time reading a lot on there after I saw it linked in another IBD...
Hi guys!
I'm having problems with my boy, Stratus. Most of the story is here - Cat Defecating 50% Of The Time Outside Of The Litterbox - Behaviour?
Long story short though, he's 9 years old and has had soft stools all of his life. Up until September of this year, that was his "normal", but...
My positive note of the day was that I accomplished some cleaning and rearranged the livingroom and my bedroom a bit, since we're going to be pet-sitting for the next three weeks <3 Pretty pleased with myself on that, especially since yesterday was a very painful day!
I'm gonna go ahead and post that new Health thread soon, but just as an update, I'm having trouble with him and the litter boxes again, and it's just getting worse as each day goes on :(
I think I'm gonna have to try the tile-floor thing, because cleaning up the carpet 2-3 times a day is really...
Regarding the thyroid - I went to the vet to pick up a bag of the Z/D Science Diet (which they were out of, but they will call me when the shipment comes in on Friday) and to ask about thyroid. She said we didn't test for it, and the test would be $140, plus the consultation fee of $70...ugh...
When he was young, I can only assume he had multiple stools then - my family had (and still does have) multiple cats, so it's hard to say who had what kind of stool, but for the few short periods of time (like the 8 months leading up to my move to Australia) when I had a personal litterbox for...
I agree completely - this is SO weird! I don't understand why he suddenly got so bad in...September? (my brain is fuzzy now, I can't quite remember when this started to get so bad...). Is that a usual thing with IBS, to get it later on in life, perhaps after a lot of stress? I should do some...
Yeah, he's definitely doing really great about the litterbox - the only little problem that can easily be remedied, is that the stool is still so runny, so sometimes...even when he's in the box, it comes out of him in such force that a bit can splatter juuuust outside the box; but at least he's...
Calicos - Yeah, I'd say he's using the litterboxes for 98% of the time - we did find an odd stool on the carpet this morning...very tiny, almost firm? Dark-coloured as opposed to the usual light-yellow his stools have been on the Hypo food. It actually kind of looked like a clump of hair, like a...
Hi guys! Back again with an update! ...
So, last time, I talked about how he was no on the Hypo food from Royal Canin, because we suspected he might have food allergies. It's been just over a month and a week, and while there is no longer consistently any blood in his poos, they're still runny...
When we first moved to Australia, I was concerned that I'd have to find him a new food to like - he'd been on Royal Canin, and I hadn't really researched whether it was available here, but of course I was relieved to find that it is indeed available, so I was very happy!
...and then when he...
Thanks for the input, Caelesto :)
Update - we went to the vet, and just got back. The vet managed to get some urine from him, so they tested that while they were at it, and kidneys are working just fine. Yay!
She felt up his abdomen quite a bit again, and said while she didn't feel anything...
Hey guys! We have another vet appointment today. We will discuss Thyroid and IBS - for sure I think I want to get him on a different diet, maybe the digestion formula from Science Diet or whatever the other Vet brand is (my mind is blanking on the name...Edit - Royal Canin? I feel like that's...
Thank you for the reply, Calicos.
Yes, he has loose stools every time (minus that literal one time I mentioned), and he goes multiple times a day, and has had multiple loose stools every day since he was a kitten. The only difference in stool now, as opposed to before we moved to this...
Hey guys, long time no see. I'm liking the look of the forums - looks much different than "back in the day" when I used to frequent this place! I didn't even think I had an account here, but when I put in my usual username, it said it was taken, so I tried logging in with a password I figured I...
Good on you! I probably wouldn't have had the *excuse the term* "balls", but I seriously applaud you!
I, too, used to litter, but I realized how *now, excuse the pun* trashy it looks, to be leaving garbage around like that. x_x
