I pet sit for a living and know how hard it can be to find a cat who doesn't want to be found. It's part of my job. Since you can't get to all the places she may have gone, it will be easiest to temp her to you. I know you shook the food but it would be good to offer her something to eat that...
What a cutie! We made a room for all our guitars, bass and amps. Cats aren't allowed in. After the cat was using my husband's Marshall as a scratching post we gave up on all other potential solutions.
Sounds like you've got it under control! I would keep taking my time but if everything looked and felt "right" to me after letting them play for a while through the gate, I'd take it down and see what happens. I'd keep them separated while unsupervised until the sessions where they're together...
I usually don't like this option but would you consider rehoming the male? He may just belong in a one cat household. If you don't like that idea, what about simply separating the cats in different parts of your house. From your description, I don't think you'll be able to get him to coexist...
Thank you for writing this. That time is coming very soon for me. Friday is in advanced kidney failure. His blood work Monday showed he's on the very brink of what he can tolerate. Though he still seems happy and is up and moving about, he's not eating and I know our time is limited. I...
My cat Seti does the same thing in that he'll pee in inappropriate places without having a UTI. However, Seti makes a lot of crystals and even though he's on Royal Canin UT diet, he still can have a flare up. When that happens, the discomfort of the crystals can cause him to pee outside of his...
Do take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a UTI. These can be fatal so you don't want to wait and nothing you try to do to stop him will work if he's sick. Make sure he's well first and he may stop peeing on things on his own. I'm from the US so I can't help on the product front...
Seti does this too and he can be smothering! Drives me crazy when he's so insistent. I got him a teddy bear. Whenever he wanted to snuggle with me, I just stuck him on his bear. Eventually, that seemed to suit him just as well. Not sure if you have that kind of time to make the adjustment...
Since you have so many boxes available, I'm thinking this may very well be a medical issue. Theoretically, if Brownie were afraid of one box, she'd just use another one of a different type. Also, since she's peeing on plastic, it makes me think UTI as they often look for hard cool surfaces...
Unfortunately, this is kind of normal for his age. The up side is that they usually grow out of it. He's like a little kid on Christmas morning and is ready for everyone to get up. Adding another cat may indeed work. Another option would be to keep him shut out of the room and add a Scccat...
Yeah, a trip to the vet is in order. Anytime a cat who normally uses a box stops using the box, chances are good it's a health issue. After that, your instincts are right to confine them and see if you can retrain them to the box. Sometimes, a health issue will arise and cause them to believe...
Found this blog post today and it slayed me! It could be about one of my cats except I don't free feed as this blogger obviously does so I don't have quite the same problem. It's sarcastic by the way so don't take the post seriously! It's meant to entertain.
There is a stray cat in the neighborhood that meows incessantly on my neighbor's front porch. It sounds like it's in distress but every time I go out to see what's wrong with it, it runs off. I've never seen this cat before and I thought maybe it was trapped or hurt but it's not trapped and...
It may go away as you continue to get the health issues fully under control. However, he may just have learned to pee in the sink. Sometimes, they think that the pain of their illness is caused by their litter box. Try searching the forums for tips on retraining to the box and add Cat Attract...
