My Lola was also recently diagnosed. I was given a week of doxy and was instructed to remove fish and beef from her diet, and vet also observed some inflammation in her mouth and recommended dental which I have tried to schedule w specialist but they are booked out. Am a bit concerned to do it...
Actually those FB people are wrong. Fancy Feast, even the older variety, particularly the classic brand, is still what I call "worst of the best", meaning the classic is not ideal, but it is made with VERY FEW carbs. And they use no gluten at all. When my cat had large cell lymphoma, his vet at...
Some cats get anxiety from the sound and size of kittens, and u did good introducing kits separate from mom. You could also put kittens in crate without mom and let ur cats get used to them that way, so ur cats feel safe and can satisfy their curiosity. It may also relieve mom about your cats...
I just did a thread edit to add what another poster said as far as treating oxygen therapy/breathing problems. They recommended aerokat commonly used for feline asthma. If I had a newly diagnosed CHF cat and/or had to do this over, I would stock up on that ahead of time and have it handy, even...
Even though a vet may do the procedure, just be aware that 40 percent of vets are not trained in the declaw procedure in veterinary school- and they do it anyhow. Don't take any chances mutilating your pet. I am in rescue and have seen all the discarded cats who have permanent post-surgical pain...
Here are his pictures, all of them taken from June on through the present. He has lost about a third of his weight all told, and he is very thin now, but is still maintaining. He is the black kitty and that is his wife, Ace who is the brown tabby and who loves him so very much!! She is grooming...
I am just updating on my boy William. He is still alive and doing well. When we saw the cardiologist, she prescribed Vetmedin which did not work for William. I learned it has a caffeine-like effect, causing the heart to pump more vigorously which can cause anxiety in some animals. We elected...
Here are pictures of William with his wife Ace (he is the black kitty) and inside with his step brother Curly (who is FIV+) and another of William and Ace this past summer. After he got sick, she began to groom him, whereas he always groomed her for the last 10 years!!
I am back to post again about William, who has CHF, first diagnosed in April or May of this year. My other thread is here: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/299982/my-boy-william-has-late-stage-congestive-heart-failure-heart-disease
I am so very sorry to see that some other kitties have gotten CHF...
This info is really very helpful! William is doing even better, he is eating his wet food now too, so almost normal! I know he won't be cured but I'm happy to see him feeling so much better. I'm going to call our regular vet and see about staying with the regular cardiologist. I hope they help...
Thank you jcat, I thought the same thing. He is outside now enjoying a cool rainy day. When I called the ER I got a bad vibe from them too. I almost hung up before talking, I was so on the fence about telling them I wasn't going. But then what they said made me glad I had done it. They were very...
I posted last night as part of another CHF thread, but it felt like I was hijacking another person's (albeit old) thread, so I am starting a new one.
A few weeks ago I left for an appointment, and fed my outside boy William and his feral wife Ace before I left. When I came home an hour and a...
