Our newest feline companion, taken in as a stray just after Christmas, is all-white "Jacques."
Whenever I have been cleaning with bleach, and have the scent lingering on my hands, he goes crazy! He flops over, closes his eyes, licks my hand (and won't let go)- gently bites my fingers, and...
I home-school my oldest daughter, and we are reading some great classics:
"Island of the Blue Dolphin", "The Hobbit", and "The Secret Garden".
Her history curriculum is AWESOME- anyone who is interested in history should check out Joy Hakim's "A History of US", a series of 6 books.
I am reading...
10 cats (two are fosters and will go to their families in the next few months)
4 dogs (used to be 5;one was successfully adopted out last week!)- one old, backyard-bred incontinent Doberman (a big sweetie); a boxer/shepherd mix; a terrier/chow mix; and a feisty Rat Terrier mix who sleeps under...
How about a blue rat? If you get a pair, they are low-maintenance, but they do enjoy lots of human attention. Seriously, rats are excellent pets, smart and affectionate and clean. Well- they are clean, their cages get pretty messy!
The nicest rat I ever met was a "blue" color, and the rats...
An update on the two white stray boys we found just after Christmas-(one had jumped into my husband's mail truck).
They are now neutered, tested negative for FIV and FLV, have their shots, and are getting along famously with our other 8 cats!
The short- haired boy is "Jacques," and the...
That's great to hear! Try to find a low-cost clinic to take him to when you have the money. A local TNR group helped us with our stray boys for what we could afford to pay, and we'll give them more money as we can.
Orange tom cats are so sweet, in my experience- we have 2, and 2 butterscotch...
I'm fairly new to the group, since December, but I've followed your saga with Sugartoes enough to be so pleased for her good fortune!!!!
Bless you and your foster kitties as they go to new homes-- bittersweet for sure.
I'm sure you'll get better advice than mine, but for the kitten's rough play, from my experience, it's pretty normal, especially with siblings. As long as you're sure no one is actually getting hurt, I'd let them sort it out. If one is bullying the other, that's another story- you should be...
Where to even begin???
I've had cats that never broke a single thing, and others, wellllllll...........
Here's a short list: urinated on a new couch, inside a heating duct, on all the suitcases in the basement
ate or knocked over all house plants (which I no longer bother with!)
knocked...
If anyone ever needs another "mail" related name, "Nixie" is the official term for un-deliverable mail. My husband is a mail carrier, and suggested this... is it appropriate or what?
Have you seen all three spraying? Caught them in the act? I ask because we had been assuming we had two males spraying, when in fact, it was only one of them.
Where else could one get such good ideas?? I am printing all these suggestions out; thanks, everyone, even though I wasn't the one who asked the question!
One of my new stray boys insists on sitting on the side of the bathtub while I take a bath every night! He loves the water, puts his paws in it, and just watches.
He also tips over his water bowl all the time, playing in it!
