    Litter Box Pouncing.

It has not been easy, I tell you. His howling all night for the first 4 months put me into sleep deprivation, complete with hallucinations that triggered brain scans, a psych eval and bloodwork for months to figure out what was wrong with me. When the doc and I realized I haven't been entering...

I keep trying to get video of him, even pics, but he just never stays still for long lol.

    Litter Box Pouncing.

Oh, something else I'm attempting while I'm home at least - when I see my girl head off to the litter, or hear her in there, I'll try to keep the lil hellcat by my side and give him tons of pets and love and coos, while keeping him focused on me instead of her. Love is a big distractor for him...

    Litter Box Pouncing.

Not in a door, no. I'm in a rental unit. I wonder if there are chip activated cat flaps I could use on that one litter though.

    Litter Box Pouncing.

I've read a few threads from a few sites now that say 'oh it's just play, put down another box and it'll be fine'. However, this is ramping up and it's not fine. :( I have an 8 yr old amazing female resident kitty. Pretty shy. She still doesn't entirely want to play with him after 6 months, but...

Baffled By Resident Kitty's Behaviour Towards New Kitty

He doesn't chase her, but he'll sit really intently staring at her, tail going wild. He did sneak up on her once too fast which resulted 4 days ago in her spinning, ears flat hissing spitting growling then screaming as they tumbled together, paws flying. No one was hurt in the small scuffle...

Baffled By Resident Kitty's Behaviour Towards New Kitty

Mostly I want to determine if I need to take the introduction back a step to avoid a full on fight, or keep pushing Petunia's comfort line bit by bit. I'd hate for this new behaviour to mean 'piss off entirely or I will END you', and end up undoing all the progress I've made so far.

Baffled By Resident Kitty's Behaviour Towards New Kitty

Hello again, oh wise and sage cat-people. I saw something this morning that absolutely baffled me, and thought maybe one of you have encountered this before. Google is turning up nothing useful. The scenario: - 8yr old spayed female (Petunia) intro to 2 yr old neutered male (tentatively...

I Finally Get To Introduce A New Kitty!!

Thank you all! I'm so excited. And annoying to any friends, this is all I can talk about right now. They have kids - I have kids with fur!

I Finally Get To Introduce A New Kitty!!

Thank you for the links - I've read the others but not the jealousy one! I shall do some reading up on that. That Petunia's not fearful anymore is a huge step. She used to be all running and hiding, hissing and all fur up and on alert. That she's even sniffing around the door makes me really...

I Finally Get To Introduce A New Kitty!!

I've posted here a few times about potential adoptions. The last foster fell through due to some inconsistencies from the shelter, and I was heartbroken. And then not 3 days later, I found another rescue here in BC, emailed them with what kind of kitty I was looking for, and they sent me 2...

Rescued A 'hoarder' Kitten: Resident Cat Being Stubborn

Welp I just talked to the vet that spayed her. She was absolutely NOT in heat when they spayed her. Her ovaries were normal size, no trace of hormones. Which means, the howling is very likely due to being apart from other kitties. And as heartbreaking as that is, it also means I am not the...

Rescued A 'hoarder' Kitten: Resident Cat Being Stubborn

Update: Wow. This has been a hard week. The escape encounter started 3 full days and nights of all out howling by Rose. I mean, HOWLING. That deep, horrible, incessant sound. I didn't sleep more than an hour at a time. My neighbours started complaining. I got to the end of my rope after...

Rescued A 'hoarder' Kitten: Resident Cat Being Stubborn

As an aside, I did look into getting Rose a cage like that, but they run close to $300 here in Canada, and that's just not in the budget. Rose has, so far, cost me close to $800. In 5 days. Her adoption fee being close to $300 of that. Then toys, supplies, new litterpan, bought lumber and...

Rescued A 'hoarder' Kitten: Resident Cat Being Stubborn

lol ok that made me giggle, my cat being a hoarder! Though, Rose *has* dragged the stuffed bear I got her for a snuggle buddy into her little cubby. So she may have picked it up! With my financial situation and renting, 2 is going to be my limit. Petunia plays like a kitten still when she gets...

Rescued A 'hoarder' Kitten: Resident Cat Being Stubborn

Thank you for the link - maybe I'll try spreading a lot of towels/blankets on the floor out here, from Rose, so Petunia can't entirely avoid them? I've tried scent swapping with just a blanket and she runs from it and then just avoids it entirely. (in her head, 'problem solved' I bet lol)

Rescued A 'hoarder' Kitten: Resident Cat Being Stubborn

That's actually not possible right now. The kitten still can't be handled yet. I'd traumatize her and undo the progress I've made with her trust in trying to force that. :( I tried putting up 2 baby gates in the doorway too, one on top of the other, and the kitten jumped right on top of them...

Rescued A 'hoarder' Kitten: Resident Cat Being Stubborn

Hey again all! So I found a kitty to adopt, and brought her home 5 days ago. She was in a hoarding and abusive situation, so the 6m old new kitty looooooves other kitties, terrified of people. I've progressed with her (all set up in the bathroom) to where she's now playing, eating more and...
