    Yikes, badly matted fur

Snickers is somewhat adventurous, and after a roll in a pile of ash, she headed straight to the bathtub for a drink... so now she's got a few near-solidy mats. Is there anything I can do? I've heard olive oil works, but I don't have any atm... won't go to town till tomorrow (work).

    Wife hates my cat

How do I pesuade my wife that cats don't cause 'fecal contamination' all over the house? She seems to think they step in their poop, and that their litter always has tiny poop particles on it, so the cat's paws track poop germs everywhere. Snickers will wait till I scoop out the box before...

Naughty cat - Thinks my bed is hers

So Snickers lies down 2 feet from me on my bed. I lay my hand down by my side. Snickers leans over and swats me, then does a slight lunge toward me, then again, as if she were making a threat. I told her 'No,' and she seemed to settle down. She seems to be working hard to become an outdoor cat.

    Lost voice! Home remedies?

Oddly enough google has failed me here, not really giving much useful info. Snickers was VERY vocal on the ride home from the shelter, but a few days ago she lost her voice and was sneezing for a few days. I've been feeding her what they gave her at the shelter, with a little cooked turkey...

    Trying to understand this hooligan

Ok, so... Snickers follows me around, and if I leave the house, she's at the door when I get back. She likes to sleep near me, too, after kneading the blanket for a while. Yet she still tries to bite me for no apparent reason. For example, she's on the ottman next to me, seemingly asleep on her...

Good feelings on this new cat

Well, I've had Snickers about a week now. After insisting on being my cat (she jumped into the crate when it was supposed to be another cat, after chasing the other cats from me), she got pretty comfortable right away, no hiding at all. She hasn't been destructive, seems to understand 'no,'...

One cat household, but a possible middening incident

Okay, I got Snickers about a week ago, and her litterbox habits were great, but I've had to shut her in a different room if scooping out the box, as she doesn't like it being messed with. Today, after repeatedly refusing to share my food with her, I start my evening sweep-up (I live in the...

    Mixed signals from saucy cat

Well, we're 5 days in with Snickers the Saucy Cat. She didn't hide, but got comfortable pretty quick. She's been sleeping next to me the last 3 nights. I woke up with morning to her head snuggled up to my ribs. However, while she follows me around, does the slow eye blink, and even kneads her...

Ahoy from a first-time cat owner and Snickers

I am American writer living in Canada, and recently got my first cat. rather, my first cat got me. This is how. Well, thanks to a rodent problem here at the cottage, I went to th SPCA to get a cat. I'd wanted Josie, a flame point siamese mix who was very sweet... but then this huge, saucy cat...
