It's good that you put in a feeding tube because that is one less worry. Many cats recover very nicely from acute pancreatitis without ever experiencing another flare; whereas, others become chronic. Mine is chronic.
You're doing all you can right now, and your kitty is in the best place...
Is your gal still at the hospital? My cat had an acute pancreatic flare two years ago, and I rushed him to the vet. He was vomiting constantly, had diarrhea, lethargy and sometimes howled, and Pogo is a quiet cat. There, they gave him an anti-inflammatory, some pain meds, sub-Q fluids, appetite...
I'd feed it.
You can always make your own raw food--there's the easy way and the more laborious way. There's a raw food thread on this website. Or, you can head to facebook and join a raw feeding group. Just make sure you use eggshells and not bone for calcium.
Since your cat is used to eating raw, you should try Rad Cat. It's pricey, but its phosphorus levels can get pretty low because it uses fatty cuts of meat and uses eggshells for its calcium source.

I tried rehmannia 8 and didn't feel it worked for my cat but I might have been underdosing. YMMV.
I use Kidney Support Gold by Petwellbeing, which also has rehmannia and strangely, I swear it works. I'll know at the next blood test.
If your cat's phosphorus values are high, you should...
It's not fiber and bulk that helps empties the anal glands; it's the straining. A raw-fed cat makes smaller poop but the poop is very compact and it takes a little bit of "push" to get it out--and that is what empties the anal glands. You will notice that some recipes include "fiber" but that is...
I don't pretend to be an expert, but your meals are horribly unbalanced, especially for a kitten. Kittens generally don't have huge reserves of extra vitamins/nutrients so you need to feed a balanced diet if you're going to do whole prey/frankendiet. For now, I would switch the kittens to a...
It's pretty cruel to capture a live animal and release it to your cat to kill. In the great outdoors, the animal would at least have a chance to escape. In your case, the rodent is stuck in a room with no exit. And you have acknowledged that it took some time for your kitten to kill it. That...
The 10% bone is based on what the cat eats so if your cat eats 5 oz/day, the amount of bone that he needs to eat is .5oz/day.
Let's pretend a chicken wing weighs 1oz. The amount of bone in it is .46oz. So, with one chicken wing, you pretty much fulfilled the cat's daily requirement. The rest of...
No. I meant try a different RAW protein. It sounds like you have two things going on: too much acid and possibly a protein intolerance.
For acid pukes: I would try more meals or feed your kitty a few FD treats, then feed him the meal.
For vomiting, I would also try a different raw protein...
James Kelly: If your cat is vomiting (versus regurgitating), try a different protein. He might be rabbit-intolerant despite the fact that it's a novel protein. Try turkey or pork. My cat can't tolerate duck. Also, try to feed more often and in smaller amounts. If you feed 2x/daily; try 4x daily...
does Tangent beg for food? Pogo went from 10.5 to 10.7 pounds. I'm trying to keep him lean due to arthritis, but he keeps begging and it breaks my heart!
he's a glutton but I also wonder if he's hungry!
How do I tell the difference?
Hi there,
Pogo, my dearest 13-y-o male kitty, had 3 CBC panels and urinalysises in the past year. His last bloodwork on 4/6/17 wasn't promising.
LATEST LAB RESULTS:
Urine specific gravity=1.026 and that's considered low-normal. (1.015-1.060)
Creatinine is now 1.7 from 1.6 in December...
This goes against all the rules I've learned about raw meat and food safety… but if I'm working late, I put some FROZEN raw food in a bowl. As the raw food defrosts, the cats eat it. So, the rate that food defrosts controls how much the cats can eat at a time. It has worked quite well. The cats...
Well, having sand is better than stones, which is just a size difference.
My cat had surgery for oxalate stones and it took 2 trips for the vet to determine that it wAs more than the standard UTI.
Your cat may need pain meds as it hurts to pee. Additionally, he might want something that will...
I don't know how, but Science Diet C/D is able to magically help cats with both acidic and alkaline urine. So, yes, depending on the cat, it can be appropriate.
re constipation: I add 1/4 teaspoon of Vets Best Hairball control to my cat who sometimes gets mildly constipated as a maintenance...
Please DON'T start adding cranberry juice/other additives without asking your vet what type of crystals your cat has. Crystals/blockage can develop when the urine is too acidic or too alkaline!
My cat's pee was too acidic and adding MORE acidic ingredients would have resulted in another surgery!
Believe it or not, your cat is trying to play with you, albeit aggressively. He can't understand why you're not returning the favor.
Try holding a wand toy at all times to distract him when he gets in these moods of pouncing on you. That way, you're protecting yourself and you're giving him an...
