    Getting cats in carrier

There are apparently limits to what can be discussed online. The Atlas 30 has four flaps that keep the lid in place. They can be flipped open very quickly.

    Getting cats in carrier

The first clinic I used also had that problem. The one I use now, they just pick the carrier apart. It's very convenient to be able to decompose the carrier, but carriers are different in that respect. Mine is an Atlas 30 - it is likely not available everywhere.

    Getting cats in carrier

With most cats you have to put them into the carrier firmly and unceremoniously. The following is standard procedure where I live. Most carriers - that I see at any rate - are oblong with a door at one end. I put the carrier on the floor on the end that is opposite the door - the door then...

Any good dry food for weight control?

Just want to mention that I give my (big) cat Orijen Fit & Trim, which is both a quality brand and very low carb. For the rest, I agree with mrsgreenjeens that wet food is likely the way to go. Such food typically contains no discernible carb at all.

    Administering Medication

I am not sure precisely what is your situation. Just wanted to mention that I once had to give my cat the antibiotic imacillin, and it was a conundrum. He refused to get it sprayed into his mouth. If I mixed it with wet food, he refused to eat the wet food. Finally I tried to mix the imacillin...

    Is My Kitten Too Skinny?

There is a saying that "you can never be too thin or too old". The first part of this clause should be taken with a grain of salt, especially with cats, who are prone to hepatic lipidosis. Still, as long as the cat is simply lean and otherwise looks healthy, I would not worry, and certainly not...

    Kittens Having Kittens.

They say that this is true of the (North) African wild cat. For some reason it seems hard to find proper scientific discussion of the reasons for this behavior, but there is agreement that this cat breed is very special, meaning less wild in many respects than other wild cats, and they are...

It's a technically poor shot, and I don't know what caption to add, but I find this expression priceless:

    Kittens Having Kittens.

Misleading. Mixed-breed dogs are mixes of distinct dog breeds. What people call "mixed-breed cats" are not mixes of distinct cat breeds. I'd like to see further discussion on this topic, preferably with some input from knowledgeable people, but that discussion belongs in a thread of its own.

Agree. I am very hesitant about what to do with my 10-year-old Turbo and his vaccinations. Do tell us if your new vet has more to say about it-

    Kittens Having Kittens.

Is it? I wonder if you realize what you are saying here. We can agree that most cats should be prevented from breeding, but it does not follow that only the purest purebreds should be allowed to exist, which would be the consequence of what you are saying. Terms like "mixed breed" and...

"I am starving!" The most expressive cat face on my PC. I have written about the fate of this unfortunate cat here: Why does nobody like black kittys?

    Advice On Letting Kittens Out.

Just want to state my profound agreement with this sentiment. Keeping cats inside to protect them against wildlife seems all wrong to me. Yes, it's a cruel world out there, and in fact cats are among the creatures that make it cruel. I don't think we should try to "improve" on nature by...

    Advice On Letting Kittens Out.

I wish everyone who asks this sort of question would say a thing or two about the environment in which they live. This is an international forum, and there are enormous differences in our cats' environments. My own cat was let out when he was 12 weeks old (by his former owner). Was that too...

Glad I'm Old But Need To Be Older

Sounds like Britain is quite generous toward the elderly ("senior", formerly called "old"). And that is after years of "Conservative" rule. Your "Conservatives" are apparently just as wishy-washy as their counterparts in Norway. In my own socialist Norway, old people get discounts and...
