Adopted Java, now an almost one year old Tortie, back in July. She was at the time, between 8-12 weeks old. She was amazing, wonderful, super affectionate, and loved EVERYONE. I mean, everyone - you came into the house and she was in your face, mewling for attention.
So, one day, I came home...
It was very gradual, no more than a sprinkle on her old food initially. I still only added a little bit but she would still vomit. She does have a sensitive stomach - I picked up Rad Cat tonight! Gonna add tiny amounts over the next week.
I didn't know Freshpet was cooked. Although I should've...
I'm going to try a new one - I don't think it's sitting well with her and FreshPet is a low quality raw food. I may try Rad Cat again, she seemed to really like that initially. Maybe I can get her to eat more of it now.
The vomiting is as soon as she eats the raw - which she of course eats first...
You're right about the mercury levels in fish. Salmon has very, very high mercury content... more than most freshwater fish, actually. I'd give it in very minimal amounts. As a topper to her food, or as a treat would probably be ideal.
Used wire storage cubes for my rabbit cages... you have to ziptie them together otherwise they won't be too sturdy. They're pretty good, but may look tacky as some are pretty thick. They're also not very cheap. You probably won't be able to see very well off your balcony either, but I don't know...
I'm here in Colorado and my friend worked at a store who sold this stuff. It's made here too, seemed like a good food. Sounds like they're in pretty deep. :/
So I slowly introduced Jinx and Java to Freshpet, a simple raw food, until I find something a bit better. Not sure how I feel about it right now, but Java seems to love it!
Jinx does too - she's my 'older' girl, not even 2 yet. While Java LOVES it (cat eats anything. Kibble, raw, wet, mothballs...
I have a girl who gets a little too... loving, I suppose, with her kneading and has torn up my leg real well.
To counter this, I not only clip once a week but also grind her nails down with my Dremmel on low speeds. Not all cats will tolerate grinding as it's an odd sensation and with some...
If I may ask, what's the point in a partial spay? Especially if you're considering just having them removed later anyway. Two surgeries seems unnecessary.
Crashkitty, will all good intentions in mind, you came here to ask for help. Everyone above was more than nice, gave you all the answers you could possibly need, there's no reason to get snippy with any of them... no lectures were given. If you can't afford to get this kitty the vet help he...
Honestly, you get what you pay for. Usually low cost foods aren't nutritionally inclined. I don't believe Fancy Feast is healthy whatsoever, but everyone has differing opinions. Cats like it because it's basically junk food - who doesn't like candy bars and chips at every meal? Full of fillers...
Recorrective training, if done correctly, will work for the dog. Just need to be stern and consistent, my Miniature Pinscher figured it out... but his training isn't yours to worry about as he's not your dog.
I agree with putting some spicy substance on a few turds. However, dogs do have strong...
