    Wellness Plans

When I asked about the wellness plan coverage at my vet, the first thing she said was it's not insurance then something about pre-existing conditions and the test my cat is scheduled for was ordered by the doctor. My line of thinking was a lab test is a lab test and the tests was due to my...

    Wellness Plans

Mrsgreenjeens, I'm glad the your cats' wellness plans are working out for you. Well, looks like I'm back to my credit card and savings account are my cats health and wellness plan . My vet is a short walk from me so I walked there and asked about that wellness plan. I mentioned that...

    Wellness Plans

Thanks again. My cats are both adults (maybe senior). What age is a cat considered a senior. They both (siblings from same litter) will be 13 in about a week. One of them had been going several times a year for bloodwork also annual physical. The other only physical annual required but the...

    Wellness Plans

Thanks for the reply. I do have some questions. Maybe you can give general answers (as I know each plan could be a bit different). On the wellness plans, do you have to pay the full amount and then get reimbursed (like the way most insurance works)? Does the plan have co-pays and stuff? Or...

    Older skinny cat thyroid issue

Hi, Is your cat able to sit still when you apply the Transdermal ? My cat had a thyroid issue too about 2 years ago. First tried the Transdermal but he'd run away from me, so I really didn't have much luck with that. Then went on the pill in his food which was more effective but he had side...

    Wellness Plans

Hi, I got an email the other day from my Vet about a wellness plan for one of my cats. It's one of those plans that are subscription based. You enroll and pay a monthly or annual fee and routine things like exams, blood work should be covered. Does a wellness plan make sense or is it a...

    Radioiodine treatment for hyperthyroidism

Yesterday marked the 1 yr anniversary of my cat George getting his I-131 treatment. He had a T4 level check done yesterday (cat hospital where he got treated required follow up tests at different times up to 1 year to monitor how things are coming along). I'm happy to say that is T4 number...

    Hyperthyroidism Experience?

When my cat was on the standard dose (don't recall exactly how long from memory) I think about 2 weeks, outwardly he was doing fine (put on some weight back, hair was losing the oily look common with HT) and he was back towards his playful self. But then after my follow up visit to the vet to...

    Hyperthyroidism Experience?

My cat was diagnosed with HT about a year ago. My first choice of treatment was I-131 as that's a one and done thing and likely cure. However the vet said my cat wasn't a good candidate because of what looked like heart failure so tried the gel. That didn't work as my cat acted like I was...

    hyperthyroidism questions

I couldn't agree more about the iodine treatment if kitty qualifies. As for cost, if you are doing the other treatments, you'd be paying anyhow for more tests to check kitty's thyroid levels. Two weeks can go by pretty fast.

    hyperthyroidism questions

One of my cats was diagnosed with HT back in August. I hoped to get the I-131 treatment but cats have to first qualify (healthy enough to get the treatment). First tried the gel but my cat didn't like that so ended up giving the pill. The pill helped to control things on regular dosage but...

Where to throw away cat litter?

I have 2 cats. I use a Litter Locker and Diaper Genie (or brand name equivalents) bag refills. About once a week, I empty that much that has accumulated wrapped with the Genie bags into my regular trash. Haven't had an issue. The Genie bags control the odor.

Questions on T4 levels, Hyperthyroidism and I-131 Treatment

You're welcome. Except for when he thinks I'm about to bring him to the vet, he's back to his happy, playful self like Dino the dinosaur on The Flintstones. .

Questions on T4 levels, Hyperthyroidism and I-131 Treatment

I have an update on my cat with great news. Brought him in for the 1st follow up lab work (1 month after I-131 treatment) a couple of days ago. The vet called me and said my cat's thyroid and kidney levels look about perfect. His T4 level now is 1.4. When I brought him in for the I-131...

Suffering over decision to let go

I am so sorry about your Flower. As others have mentioned before on this forum that you want to let go of your loved kitty not too soon but also not too late. But when that is, is so hard. Not long ago a cat of mine was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. Some of the symptoms are lab results...

    Cat doesnt remember me

Yes, like others said, give it time. I had a cat treated with I-131 recently and part of the quarantine is to pretty much keep my distance for a week. That was heartbreaking for both me and cat. But by end of the week, the cat pretty much adapted to not bonding everytime he saw me like...

    Male cat humping while kneading

Isn't there like a window of getting neutered so the male cat doesn't have those um "urges" ;)? I'm pretty there is a window of spraying. Some if neutered too late still spray. I have a male cat, can't remember when he was neutered, haven't seen him doing that. Yet, he's still happy (as far...

Cleaning Transdermal Medicine Buildup on Ears

Glad to see someone with success. Does just sit still and let you do what's needed? When I recently attempted to apply a transdermal gel twice a day to one of my cats. The end was pretty much a failure and I had to try an oral pill dosage instead. My cat just didn't like the ear attempt and...

    Cat fountain advice

Typo :ohwell:. I meant to say Starring Princess, not Staring. I checked in the morning and looks like the new fountain held up. There were no traces of cat litter from pawing so I think if any, was washed onto the filter. Also, the fountain survived getting pushed by my other cat who...
