2 Very Pregnant Foster Mamas, Couple of Questions

They are ADORABLE. Please keep the pictures coming! I wouldn't worry too much about weaning, unless you're fostering orphaned kittens. Introducing wet food too early may cause upset tummies. The kittens will learn from mom at their own pace; as Sarthur2 said, usually between 5-8 weeks.

    Pregnant rescue cat

If you leave the blankets, she'll most likely pee on them. Get an enzyme spray that you can use on spots where she pees that she shouldn't. It'll eliminate the smell. Otherwise she'll keep going there. Fluffy blankets are anyway not ideal for newborn kittens because they can smother. Better to...

    How to Wean Difficult Kitten

Wet kibble doesn't sound appetising at all. Try other, high value foods eg plain boiled chicken, or Royal Canin Kitten Mousse. If he won't eat it off your finger or a plate, you can start by mixing it in his syringe slurry. How much does he weigh? If he's much smaller than the rest, then it may...

Pregnant Semi-Feral who won't go in a kennel

Aggressive how? Is she hissing, growling or spitting? Has she tried to scratch or bite? Or is she just getting bolder in trying to escape? I know it's easier said than done, but try to remember that if you're tense and wary, she's going to pick up on it, and she's going to get more stressed out...

    Newest foster mama,

Congrats! Seems like mom's short tail is genetic then. You'll need to keep an eye on the tailless kitten. Google Manx Syndrome. Kittens born without a tail may have issues like incontinence or partial paralysis in the hind legs. Or they may be fine. It depends on how much the spinal cord is...

Likely feral Kittens of uncertain age

Try putting the dewormer in their food. Socialising feral cats over 4 months isn't recommended for rescues, because in the time it would take, they could help many more friendly cats. Younger kittens socialise much faster than older feral cats. But as an individual, if you have the time and...

Skin and bones very friendly and active ginger. Advice please🙏🏻

Can't be 100% sure from a photo, but he does seem to be neutered. Can you feel the individual ribs and knobs of his spine when you stroke him?

    Cat suckling behaviour?

My cat does this too, on fleece blankets or fluffy tops. I also find it very sweet. It's not harmful or a sign of illness or anything, so enjoy the bonding time 🤗

2 Very Pregnant Foster Mamas, Couple of Questions

Aww so sweet. The moms look quite similar. I wonder if they're sisters? You could try moving your nesting box so the entrance is right next to the cardboard house. Is the nesting box covered? They probably feel the smaller house is safe. I wouldn't worry too much though. They'll move if and...

2 Very Pregnant Foster Mamas, Couple of Questions

Kitten Lady has a video that may be helpful on fostering a feral mom with kittens. As for the tongue sticking out, maybe she's missing some teeth in front? Stray/feral cats can sometimes break or lose teeth eating inedible junk, even if they aren't old.

    Tiny tiny kitten

You're clearly going above and beyond for him. He's lucky to have you! My guess is he inherited a birth defect from his dad, in which case there's only so much you can do. Have you talked to your vet about your concerns? (Apart from the possible eye issues) Will dad be getting neutered?

    Tiny tiny kitten

To me it seems like his eyes are bulging because he's very underweight. Basically, you're seeing the shape of his skull. He looks exactly like a kitten I fostered a couple of years ago.

    Please name my cat!

How about, to honour Lucy, another actress? Grace (Kelly) Audrey (Hepburn) Doris (Day) Elizabeth (Taylor) Jayne (Mansfield)

    abandoned kitten

Most of the kittens I've fostered have been underweight. The most important thing is to weigh them daily to make sure they're gaining. Also, ideally feed according to weight, not age. At 140g it should be fed every 2 hours, 2ml to 6ml (google Kitten Lady feeding chart). A kitten could be...

    Mom crying for adopted kittens

I've been fostering for a few years now and I've learnt this is so, so important. I can see 8 week old kittens aren't ready to be taken from their families and everything they know, and how much of a difference in emotional security and independence even a few more weeks can make...

    Mom crying for adopted kittens

I usually foster orphaned kittens so this has never been an issue before, but this time I have a mom and her 5 kittens. The kittens are about 9 weeks old and two were just adopted. Mom is crying, looking for them, and it's breaking my heart. How long until she accepts they're gone? I'm sure it...

How do you pick a cat?

A cat came waltzing into our home, flopped down on the carpet, and said, "Yes, this will do." We looked for his owners, but never found them. We suspect he was abandoned when they moved away. It's been about 6 years now, and we still serve him 🤷‍♀️

    Late/early season pregnant mama

Thanks for the update! Out of curiosity, how many ended up being male/female and short-haired/long-haired? Looks like the B&W ones are fluffy, but I can't tell from the last pic about the white ones? In their baby pics it looked like maybe 2 of the white kittens were DLH. Is the all-white one...
