Fascinating! I'm glad I asked for other people's perspectives. I learned something surprising. :)
Because I own one of the most behaviorally difficult cats I've ever heard of, and because of my experience with all three of our indoor cats having behavior issues, I'm inclined to believe that...
What has your experience with cats shown you? Do you think outdoor cats are better behaved than indoor cats? I personally believe that yes, outdoor cats are better behaved than indoor cats. As I scroll through the behavior wing of this forum, I see post after post after post about help requests...
I've done something similar in the past when we were toilet training the cats; we marked the times of day that they consistently went potty and timed ourselves to come supervise the cats at those times to make sure they used the toilet instead of some place inappropriate. :/
Just so you know, if it was MY cat that I'm dealing with, I already have an idea of what I'd do: I'd make the cat wear a belly band/ diaper in the house and take it off at set times of day for him to use the litter box, OR if I'm busy or not at home, I'd keep the cat shut in a room away from the...
Have you tried feeding her a human-grade raw diet? Maybe try plain raw meat for now, whatever you can get, and order a raw diet for her. If she doesn't eat it, you could feed your outdoor cats whatever she leaves. I recommend Raw Dog Food & Co. Also, if you can, at least cut out the dry food...
You have a little energizer bunny! He'd be a great candidate for adventure cat training. This playlist has been a huge help to me in adventure training and strengthening the bond with my cat:
Do you have any idea if he likes other cats? Maybe get him a feline buddy... or a canine!
It's good that you note these behaviors from your cat. My cat was the same way when he was the only kitten in the house for the first 2 months of his time with us. His behavior didn't get better; it grew worse and worse until my Dad and my brother brought home their kittens. When they brought...
Interesting. Does she have a cat buddy? If yes, does she get along well with the other cat? Are your cats fixed? Do she and the other cat fight when you're not around? How many hours at a time each day are you away from home? How often do you play with your cats with their toys? Do you take them...
We've had good experiences with the human-grade canned brands of Nature's Logic and Tiki Cat. Just be forewarned that neither canned food nor kibble will provide the DENTAL MAINTENANCE your cats need. The abrasive action of chewing on raw meat and bones cleans your cats' teeth like nothing else...
My brother used to be allergic to cats when he was a toddler. When we switched to a mostly alkaline diet, his allergies were nonexistent, and now we live with 4 cats! Dr. Robert Young's book The pH Miracle is what got us into a mostly alkaline diet for a while. I'm not getting paid to promote...
Okocat is one of my favorite brands because it's, thus far, the only pellet litter I've found that actually creates urine clumps instead of disintegrating! I tried the pellets with the sifting litter box for a while, and the SMELL was HORRIBLE! Some people claim they don't have horrible odors...
Yeah, he's manipulating you. Don't feel sorry for him and give into him. Teach him to sleep shut in his kennel at night so he can't go all over the place waking you up. If he raises a fuss in his kennel, you might try taking a plastic cup and banging it against the side of the kennel (The kennel...
I find it hard to believe that he truly wouldn't enjoy going for walks outside. Maybe it's the way he was introduced? You said that you live in an apartment. The hustle and bustle of the city is too much for many cats, but there is still in cats the longing to enjoy their natural habitat, which...
