Knee and teeth Syndrome / Patellar Fracture and Dental Anomaly Syndrome (PADS)

If you're wondering what it is... from what I can glean, its a genetic anomaly in bone formation that leads to bones being susceptible to fracture for no apparent reason, and baby teeth to not shed properly, causing issues with adult teeth emergence. Apparently it doesn't run in breeding lines...

Knee and teeth Syndrome / Patellar Fracture and Dental Anomaly Syndrome (PADS)

Just found out yesterday that my 4 month old kitten has very likely got this syndrome 😭 Since its so rare (my 60 year old vet has never seen a case in her career!) I was wondering if anyone here has had this with their cat, so I can get advice from an owner's perpective (how did it progress with...

How do you tell fur length at 12 weeks?

Hmm, our big boy cat (8kg!) Has a massive fluffy tail (and mane but you cant see it in the photo), and tufty toes, but his main body is medium hair I think, thick and fluffy but not very long. Thats the bit where I get confused about how do you tell the difference between long and medium in a...

How do you tell fur length at 12 weeks?

A couple more... a lying down shot, you can see his dark guard hairs on his back, and one tufty back foot. And a prepounce shot, with the his medium hair (but long mane and tail 😂) big brother.

How do you tell fur length at 12 weeks?

Hi team! I've read in quite a few places that you can tell kittens fur length when they're 12 weeks... now I have a 12 week old and its not obvious to me 😂 can you give me tips? He is silver tabby, has silky fur that looks thick (because its puffy), but is not thick when you stroke it. Ancestry...

Cats grieving for other cats thread

I have a cautionary tale about a misguided grieving cat event.... We had a mother daughter pair, and the mother passed away at 13, the daughter had extreme mourning. She cried continuously for weeks (loudly, was a burmese!), noone could get any sleep 😭 we tried feliway, and co-sleeping but it...

Black newborn turns light tabby - is he a sort of smoke?

Yes I was sad to not be able to get a rescue, our other cat was a rescue kitten who grew up to be a big 8kg bearded boy! We'd chosen the smallest baby at the shelter to be a companion for our little 3kg cat (who has since passed away). The size discrepancy was an issue, so we tried for a few...

Black newborn turns light tabby - is he a sort of smoke?

Yes 10 weeks now, the baby photos match the timing, sadly not with mum (I agree, was a bit sad the breeder wanted him picked up so early 😕) I think his tabby pattern is mackerel but its a bit hard to tell as his back is a bit fuzzy, so stripes broken up.

Black newborn turns light tabby - is he a sort of smoke?

Btw he is (supposedly, no documentation!) Second generation persian/ragdoll mix (ie both parents first generation persian ragdoll mix). He has toe tufts and big ear fluff, has long guard hairs but I'd say he's medium haired and has body shape more like the ragdoll side (long limbs, back legs...

Black newborn turns light tabby - is he a sort of smoke?

This is my 10 week old kitten, when i put him on hold he was advertised as "black with a smoky face" but turned a light silver tabby by adoption time (there were progression photos in between, he was not swapped out 😊) I read about fever coats - light turning darker, and smoke - dark growing out...
