How long does conjunctivitis take to clear?

Not really. She scratches at her chin a bit and I've seen her groom the area, but I haven't seen her aggressively favoring the area. Perhaps a little bit more early on before she was being treated. I do suspect that my there is an allergen in my apartment that bothers her from time to time which...

How long does conjunctivitis take to clear?

About a week ago I woke up an noticed that my cat's eye was a bit watery, and when I picked her up and thought I saw a hair over her eye. She's had a watery eye before due to allergies or minor irritation so I didn't think much of it, but it seemed to get a bit worse over the next couple of days...

Wet foods for cats with a food allergy?

My cat has been eating Ultamino since the beginning of the summer to combat her food allergy. Over the summer there was a brief period where I ran out, and I decided enough time had gone by so I bought some Hills Oral Care chicken, but a few weeks later her ear infections came right back. Since...

Cat has bad breath even after brushing

Thanks for the input, everybody. Her breath is just unpleasant and pungent, varying in intensity. Difficult to say if it happens after she eats or after she cleans herself. Sometimes I'll notice it only when she meows near me, other times you can catch it if she's nearby and she's cleaning...

Cat has bad breath even after brushing

I've had my cat for about 6 months. She was a street cat so we had some health concerns to tackle along the way, but the lingering problem is her breath. It's just plain awful. The vet does see some gingivitis, though not bad enough that we need to do an urgent deep cleaning plus extractions...

    Blood spots on floor?

I believe I've heard of Hydra Care before. Do you give it to them in place of water, like a feeding session? Or do you let it stand? My only concern is wasting too much.

    Blood spots on floor?

Just got off the phone with the vet. I sent along the picture, and considering her appetite, activity level, etc., she isn't concerned that it's TOO serious, but suggested we keep her on antibiotics for another week and run a bladder X-Ray to rule out a stone. Will be taking her in today!

    Blood spots on floor?

Another saga in the adventures of my cat's CKD! The D-Mannose hasn't worked for her, and now she's battling yet another UTI which we've been treating with antibiotics the past two weeks. We ran a culture and the vet said we're using the right med. She seemed to be perking up after about 5 days...

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

Yep, that works during the day but not at night.

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

Yep, she's very stubborn. As I type this, she's sitting behind me next to her water dish, alternating between staring at the water and me. Last night was pretty bad, she woke me at 4, then in intervals throughout the night. I'm an absolutely zombie and don't know how much longer I can live like...

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

Just a couple of days ago. Coincidentally, this is occurring right in line with her routine 4 week checkups. It started with vomiting and diarrhea on Thursday night, then again on Friday night. Friday though we started the course of antibiotics, so as of writing this she's had only 4 doses and...

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

On a related note, can UTIs cause disorientation? I've been noticing that sometimes she seems to be totally with it, but other times she acts a little disoriented like she doesn't know exactly where she is. For example, she didn't want to jump down from a ledge that she's used to, and I moved a...

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

She was intrigued by the fountain and drank from it a little bit. At first she was sticking her head right in the dish but getting hit by the faucet! This is her afternoon slump so she probably won't drink more until this evening. Fingers crossed!

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

Just to add, I'm hopeful that the new fountain will do the trick but the bigger problem is mainly breaking this dependence on me to swish her water or run the faucet. Usually, in the first half of the day, any movement from me triggers her to run to the dish. Getting up from my computer chair...

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

I did! Though I don't think I gave it to her long enough to see any benefit. We established care at a new vet and her bloodwork showed elevated ALT, so the vet wanted me to pull her off all supplements and check her blood again a month later. The ALT dropped a bit and I haven't put her back on...

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

Thanks for the recommendation, I immediately purchased that fountain along with some glow-in-the-dark ping pong balls. This will actually be the third fountain she's had, but from the looks of it it might just be what she'll like. Will report back!

My cat's CKD and UTIs are exhausting me

My cat has stage 3 CKD which I've been mostly keeping under control with her diet and sub-Q fluids at home. She gets frequent UTIs (I've posted about them here before) and is currently dealing with another, and she's also being treated for hyperthyroidism (numbers are good). This past spring we...

Cat update - keeps getting UTIs

Sorry for the delay, but thanks for the information. I think that for now the best course of action is to get her off her current antibiotic, do a urinalysis, and wait out the culture. I'm also purchasing this D-Mannose which I'll use regularly as a preventative. At the moment she's doing pretty...

Cat update - keeps getting UTIs

It's a conundrum indeed. Repeated visits to the vet, persistence, and giving fluids at home has gotten her numbers to drop, even after a different vet initially told me back in September that she was genuinely concerned about kidney failure. At that time we also discovered a UTI in addition to...
