16 yr old cat - sudden temporary hind leg paralysis

I concur with the above. Take him in immediately if you can. We had a cat who experienced an unexpected and very sudden saddle thrombus last September that sadly had to be put to sleep because of it. The earlier you have him seen the better the outcome may be.

    Normal neutering or pyometra surgery?

Our cat had pyometra surgery last month and the cost was substantially higher than what it would've been for a regular neutering procedure. The circumstances were slightly different (ours had the surgery immediately whilst the uterus was still inflamed and leaking, which is presumably what...

    Advice on cat symptoms

The stitches have come out as of today! I won't lie, even though I know she can lick and nibble herself to her heart's content, I still have to fight every instinct I have to intervene when she does. I've spent so long obsessively preventing her from touching the wound that it's gonna take a...

    Advice on cat symptoms

Me again with a little update (and a question!). Pepper's been quite good this week, I have to say. It's been a week since her post-op check and she's been in normal spirits all week. She's eating like normal, playing, drinking, using the litter, and waking me up at 4am. Her incision wound...

    Advice on cat symptoms

Pepper's post-operative check went very well! Her incision is healing well, her temperature is good, and she's behaving exactly as I would call normal. Her eating seems to be improving slightly, and in fact she's put on a bit of weight, so she must be fine. The stitches come out in 8 days and we...

    Advice on cat symptoms

it doesn't actually have anything like that on the bottle, it just says to give 0.6ml diluted daily and that's all. We've just done it now and let's just say it wasn't pleasant. Some of it dripped onto the bed and the remainder in the container has been soaked into some treats that hopefully...

    Advice on cat symptoms

Pepper's back home now! She looks a little worse for wear, bless her, but she's doing ok. She came home with a collar on but absolutely hated it, so we've taken it off and will keep a close eye on her for wound licking. So far she's shown little to no interest in it (and it is currently covered...

    Advice on cat symptoms

Another (great) update! The surgery was performed a few hours ago and it all went well. Apparently it was quite a big pyometra, so thank god she was seen when she was otherwise I dread to think what the alternative would've been. Her temperature has stabilised and now they'll keep an eye on...

    Hoarse Voice

I'm not sure about the hoarse voice but we got a kitten years ago that came from a farm, and although it wasn't as thin as the one you have, it has a similar sort of extended belly. It turned out he had worms, so maybe that might be something to consider here? She looks beautiful though ❤️

    Advice on cat symptoms

Thank you ❤️ We'll get a call later today to let us know how it went so hopefully we'll be good to bring her back tomorrow as I suspect they'll want to keep an eye on her tonight (and god knows they should with how much this whole experience has cost!). Oh, and her name is Pepper, more...

    Advice on cat symptoms

Alas, just been confirmed via ultrasound that this is a case of pyometra and the surgery will be going ahead later today. I'm glad to finally have a diagnosis!

    Advice on cat symptoms

Seriously, thanks all you guys. Your advice and care has really been valuable ❤️ We had to leave her overnight as by the time I posted the last update the vet was basically closed and the only alternative was an emergency vet, which would've sent the costs through the stratosphere. But...

    Advice on cat symptoms

Got an update. She finally did a wee and a poo this morning but she's been so fussy with the litter that we couldn't get a big enough sample. So we're still working on that. She's still not eating substantial meals but will enjoy treats when offered. However, I woke up this morning and noticed...

    Advice on cat symptoms

Thanks for the responses, guys. She still seems roughly the same today. She shows a general interest in food (ie she eats treats quite often when offered) but won't est anything substantial. Still drinking water and doesn't seem dehydrated when I lifted the skin on the nape of her neck. She...
