We are on a hydrolyzed diet. It’s been about a month and a half with a very lose dose of pred and while the improvements have been excruciatingly slow, she looks and feels so much better.
Did you use that allergy test with any luck?
The last time I got the liquid pred, the pharmacy switched the manufacturer and the pred had a strong bitter smell and taste. Peachie would not get anywhere near it and fought the syringe. I had to throw away food and meds and neither of us were happy. I called the pharmacy and made them switch...
My kitten took weeks to settle! She was also young when I got her and before I brought her home fed puppy milk, canned milk, and calf milk replacer. Poor thing! We did antibiotics, checked for parasites, took her back and forth to the vet. It just took a little extra time to get her to a good place.
Keep me updated if anything gets better- or worse! But I am hoping for both of us things improve. My girl is still improving a little every day. Probably the pred but still. 🤞
Oh it’s so expensive but it’s cheaper than taking her to the vet every couple of months! At least that’s what I keep telling myself 😂 She is on hills z/d wet and dry food now. She isn’t very picky but she does like this food more than almost anything I’ve given her. She doesn’t seem super...
this sounds so similar to my girl! My girl started at 8 months and it’s been nearly six months of struggles. She has had pred several times. So about a week and a half ago my vet finally wore me down onto the hills z/d hydrolyzed. It’s too soon to know if her results are from the steroid but she...
Thank you so much I will check this out! And I was wondering if thing might get better before they get worse. I do hope at some point we can transition to a mostly raw food diet once we figure this out. We have several local raw cat food companies in my town actually.
Thank you! I’ve also been wondering about some of the additives and grains so I chose a food that had very few ingredients that were in any of the other diets we had tried. We did try a grain free and she seemed to be much worse on that one actually, but if could have been the protein or some...
We have tried a commercial raw diet. I think she may have chicken and beef allergies. We haven’t done any testing yet, as a dermatologist vet is three hours away in the next state over. There is a dermatologist 3 hours north that may begin accepting new patients in June.
Hi everyone,
my sweet girl is still dealing with allergies. It’s been 5 months now, soon to be six. We have switched to z/d hydrolyzed after fighting it for so long. She also is tapering down on another dose of steroids. Her allergies had gotten so so bad!
I was wondering how long it took for...
Could I ask what foods you have tried? I’m having similar issues, but I don’t think my issue is fleas as I treat her regularly and keep her in the house. I want to let her out again as we also live in a rural area.
Hi I am wondering how your kitty is doing and how the drops worked out for you? I hope he is itch free! I’m experiencing a similar situation with my cat.
You know, that does sound very familiar although I really really hope this is not the case. The vet was concerned about FIV before as she seems to have many medical issues for a normal young kitty. She doesn’t have that, but we didn’t test any further. Thank you for finding this. I’ll do some...
We are giving the hydrolyzed protein diet a try after I’ve resisted for so long. Her kitten food was royal canin wet and dry kitten, which I had picked and stuck with because she liked it and she had a fussy tummy as a kitten. Just before this happened, there was a shortage and I fed her some...
