Any Good Tips To Get Your Cats To Eat? Share Them Here!

Addendum: It was a bust. Of the fourteen cans of cat food I bought, only Tiki Cat Tahitian Grill Sardine Cutlets made it past the sniff test, and was then only sorta eaten reluctantly. On the positive side, the neighborhood stray was in hog heaven, and looks to of put on weight. Morris has...

    Senior people adopting kitten

In today's world, spin doctoring always seems to trump commonsense, no ones ever at fault (or needs accept any responsibility), and fee-fees are more important than...well, absolutely anything. Guess I'm of the old guard, which makes me a dissident of Clownworld. Yes, a senior cat adopted by a...

Looking for canned kitten food in a variety of flavors

Good luck getting a cat to eat anything it doesn't like. It took Mirtazapine to get Buddy to eat the the Hills wetfood, and as soon as the three day limit expired, he was back to a hunger strike. IBD or not, either find something the cat will willingly eat, master the use of a feeding tube, or...

How Often Do You Bathe Your cats?

I've had Lil Buddy since late February, and so far no baths. I guess a flea infestation would be the only incentive for me to risk it, considering he is very high strung. The furstorm I just deal with via lotsa brushing and wet-hand massages...he's quite addicted to both, and I don't mind it...

    Senior people adopting kitten

Tell them to think of the cat before themselves. A senior cat is unlikely to make it out of a shelter alive, while a kitten will have many adopters vying for it. They have zero chance to outlive a kitten, so they are basically getting it for someone else. The kittens life will be upended once...

    Senior people adopting kitten

When I adopted Lil Buddy, the SPCA told me that an 8-9 years old cat was "just like" the senior cat I had planned for. Rubbish! There are days when he is like a young cat...zoomies, demanding DaBird again and again until I have a cramp in my arm, jumping on me from the cat tree when I'm slow to...

I already tried bacon, both crispy and rubbery...both only got a sniff before rejection. Other things; Chicken liver fried, beef liver fried and raw, ground veal fried and raw, chicken thigh (boiled, soup and fried), hamburger raw and fried, pork chop fried, ground lamb raw and fried, turkey...

Any Good Tips To Get Your Cats To Eat? Share Them Here!

Buddy is oddly similar. He will eat half the wetfood, then come demand either a brushing or massage, and if satisfied will go back and eat the other half...otherwise not even me holding the saucer and sweet-talking him will get him to eat the rest. Since he is now down to a quarter of the 2.8oz...

Any Good Tips To Get Your Cats To Eat? Share Them Here!

Yeah, the expensive stuff I'll have to put off til August. I have $20 cat claw cutting clinic tomorrow, $300-$400 second blood panel on Wednesday, plus $30 bag of Hills Urinary Care C/D from the SPCA pharmacy...so July budget is pretty much shot. Baby food is off the shelves, and when it does...

    Sudden behavior change

Buddy continues to drink a lot of water, at least compared to the pretty much none before. I learned he wants the water changed four times a day (and has to watch me do it), and expects cold water from the fridge. On the other front, he has cut way back on food. I had him up to 3/4 a can of...

    Sudden behavior change

Not seeing any mention on the test results, but I have the second blood panel (the vet wanted for comparison) scheduled for July. If I can remember, I'll ask about it. Seems like the SPCA operates on the 'don't ask, don't tell' rule.

    Sudden behavior change

I'm not a vet so I can't say anything for sure. Commonsense would suggest that if the minerals that cause struvite crystals is in the food and the water, then eliminating those in the water would at least cut the intake in half. I read what you read in the links. The most I gleaned from all that...

    Sudden behavior change

I use this one: https://www.chewy.com/iprimio-sifter-non-stick-litter/dp/134593 ...and no, it's not nonstick if you have to use it to scrape the clump from the inside wall of the litter box. I picked it because of the reviews, and looked like it was constructed to last forever. Its nothing that...

    Sudden behavior change

SPCA said he was age 8 to 9. The urine clumps? No. He like to get it on the inside wall, so I have to scrape it off with the scoop, then scrape it off the scoop

    Sudden behavior change

So he is still drinking from the saucer, and I'm quite happy about that. With all the fur flying I have to wash it out three times a day, but worth it. I've only used distilled water, after researching struvite crystals, finding out they are made of certain minerals, and some of those occur in...

    Sudden behavior change

Since getting Buddy from the SPCA in mid-February, I had only seen him drink water once, which I think was due to the appetite stimulant the vet had me rub on his ear. Since then the only water he has been getting is the 3 to 4 teaspoons I mix into each meal of Fussy Cat wetfood. The water...

What Are Your Cats Doing Right Now?

Buddy finished driving away the evil Da Bird, had his 6pm meal, followed by a brushing, then a back massage...so he is now passed out under my chair while I surf the net.

Are your cats vocal? What kids of sounds do your cats make?

Buddy is mostly on 'silent running'. Since he never purrs, I had thought his vocal chords was damaged. About a month ago he started yowling to wake me up, which was loud enough to cut through my silicone earplugs. A week or so ago he just stopped. Now he only does a squeaky meow when I'm...

    Too much hairball vomit!

So I reached the SPCA vet today by phone, scheduled an ultrasound for mid-July and pushed the second bloodwork panel up to September, as it will take a few months to recover from the $500 hit to the budget. Vet was not happy but he will survive.
