    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

I am so used to dogs, or at least my late one, Angel. She would eat anything, including chocolate, if you weren't careful! Lesson learned! We are doing a slow transition to Authority, which he is responding well to it. We get lots of rain and thunderstorms around here (I live near the ocean and...

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

Putting the food further away seems to have helped. I think he also disliked the new food we were giving him. We went back to the old stuff and he seems a lot more eager to eat. How do your cats feel about the rain, now that spring has officially begun?

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

So I know I just posted yesterday but I do have a question. Recently Kubo has been ignoring me when I bring his food. Even going as far as to hide himself from view of me. But only during feeding. Once I leave, he eats it. I think I moved too fast bringing the food closer to me and now he...

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

Today marks a month that we have had Kubo in the house, so I thought I'd post a little progress report. He no longer hides when I come in the room, though sometimes he still goes to his safe spot. He goes to the bathroom and grooms in front of me, sits with his back turned, closes his eyes...

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

He ate out of my hand just now!!!! I can't believe it. I didn't think that was going to happen at all, but he went for it. Ahhhhh!!!!!!

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

As Kubo and I get closer, I have begun to think more about how to approach making contact with him. I have read a few articles and they all say slightly different things, going between waiting for the cat to bump you for pets to trying a padded stick with feliway. Do you guys have a particular...

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

Popping back in with another question! Every night, Kubo seems to see something outside that makes him cry to me. He looks out the window and then comes to meow loud-ish multiple times, and then look at me. I know he is trying to tell me something... I see his tail flicking when he's looking out...

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

Sigh. My mom called the lawn care company and they came and scared Kubo so badly with the leaf blowers, he shoved himself into the box we used to close off the underside of the cabinet. I stayed with him the entire time they were here, but I think I'm going to have to leave him be for the rest...

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

He uses it! Just the other night when he did eat in front of me, he went in afterwards to sleep. I think I heard him dreaming? They were very cute noises. But typically he chills behind it. I guess he feels like there are more escape routes that way. I will try the bag shaking with the treats!

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

@FeebysOwner Awesome! I am sure I will have a million more very obvious questions. This whole process has been very stressful for both me and Kubo as I am kind of stumbling around in the dark, and I feel so bad for him.

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

Sorry I know the description was a bit confusing. I have attached a few pictures of the setup. He has three hiding spots, two water sources, and two litter boxes, though he only seems to use one? And a scratching post and toys, though he hasn't used them yet. He has water available at all times...

    Semi-feral cat hiding spot quandary

Hello all! we finally got our semi-feral inside two weeks ago. After we caught him, we brought in his outdoor house for comfort. It is sitting on top of our dryer. Kubo's safe spot is between this house and the wall. This means when I come in for socialization time and feeding, he can pretty...

New feral scaring away the cat we intend to adopt. Help?

Is it safe to incorporate that into a daily diet or is it more like a "medicine" to be taken when the issue arises?

New feral scaring away the cat we intend to adopt. Help?

A super grainy pic of Kubo! From a few days ago, it was the first time he actually surveyed me. He ate in front of me for the first time tonight, though he was none too happy that I got so close to him to put the bowl down. He had some constipation issues that were resolved but we are monitoring...

New feral scaring away the cat we intend to adopt. Help?

Kubo has a clipped ear so I think he/she (honestly we have no idea but I hate calling the cat "it") has already been through TNR. Vet said to wait until he is able to be handled since he's already neutered. Do they still cry at night if they have been neutered? I can hear him now, almost sounds...

New feral scaring away the cat we intend to adopt. Help?

Hi all! Calling the vet tomorrow to make an appointment. In the meantime, Kubo has been meowing in the evening. I figure this is normal, but thought I would check in here. He is eating all his food and using the litterbox, which is amazing. We brought in his outdoor house so he would be more...

New feral scaring away the cat we intend to adopt. Help?

Old pic since I can't get one right now 😬 Should our main concern be getting kitty into a carrier to go to the vet? Or is it better to wait a bit?

New feral scaring away the cat we intend to adopt. Help?

UPDATE: WE CAUGHT KITTY!!!!!!! It was a bit spur of the moment, so a door wasn't closed and now he's hiding under a dresser, but he's inside!!! I turned the lights low, but food and water, litter and his blanket inside. Harp music on my computer outside the door. We are kinda in shock. BUT HE'S...
