So, a quick update. I ended up taking Her Majesty to the vet on Friday, after she peed on the floor 3 times in 24 hours, which is extreme even for Princess. Urine sample, exam and $100 later, she got a clean bill of health and the advice of "she is stressed out." Presumably from me being home...
Some of you may recall the issues I have had with my 7-year old rescue (trauma victim, was declawed at some point, has anxiety etc.). Well - with medication and Rx diet, I managed to get her to calm down drastically, yay!
But - she still pees on the floor average of about 3-4 time per week...
Hi,
So Princess still has an occasional problem urinating just outside her box. (I am going to put her back on Dr. Elsey's litter as soon as I can, and also start using pee pads, but meanwhile...) I normally use paper towels to blot it up, then a rag with Nature's Miracle to really clean the...
Good morning,
Princess, my 4 year old rescued female tabby, went to the vet last week and got a clean bill of health - except she is getting fat. I believe part of the problem is she likes her dry food a little too much. She is on urinary SO, both wet and dry food, for a past problem with...
An update, and good news. The urination problem has about 95% gone away! I'm not sure exactly why, I think this may have been an "adjustment" problem. But she's using the boxes properly now, most of the time. Now and again I still find a mess, but not often, and I think that is because once...
I will look into that, it's definitely worth a try. Part of what I don't understand with this situation is that she will use both her boxes just fine... but again, a couple times a week she just decides not to, and I cannot figure it out. There is no pattern to it, that I can tell.
When you say different material, what do you mean? She has 2 boxes, one is Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract, the other is Scoop Away. She seems to use them both with regularity - except when she decides not to.
Hi,
Foster kitty, female and spayed, 3 years old, front declawed (previous owners did it) and history of neglect and possible abuse. Same one I posted about with the biting problem - which actually is improving. I've had her since end of February. Only cat in the house.
So - about 3 weeks...
These are some good thoughts. I have been very consistent about only using toys (not hands) to play - my last cat was was a "toys only" cat, by her own choice, so I generally don't even think of using body parts... She has done love bites a few times, very gentle and short lived - generally no...
I've had this foster in my home for about 6 weeks. She's the only cat in the house. She is about 3 years old and is a "hard luck" case - rescued last fall after a hurricane, was likely abandoned. She also had been declawed at some point, but her feet healed improperly and she needed surgery...
Hello All,
Very unexpectedly today, we found a home for the kitty! Just by chance I was talking with an old friend that I'd not seen in years and mentioned the situation. Turns out my friend was looking for an older cat to adopt. She came over to meet the kitty, was so patient and kind, and...
Good morning,
I'm hoping someone can help. My friend died unexpectedly and left behind an approximately 14-yr. old cat. I have offered to help the family find a new home for the kitty, but I'm hearing they are a bit impatient for this to happen. The executor of the estate will be in town...
