One cat with intussusception, one with suspected case

I can't believe I'm writing this post. As background, my cats are both indoor cats - both spayed females, one is 3 and one is 13 months old. They never throw up - I mean it's happened exactly once in the past year...before a few days ago. That's when I noticed that one cat was throwing up...

Living together for 10 years and start fighting today

Can you separate them? Cats don’t forget - each fight they have now is worsening the situation. This really has to come first - whatever is causing this, we can’t let it get worse. Get the boys in separate rooms, each with his own food, water, litter box, and toys. Leave them both alone - don’t...

    Nightmare - ibuprofen

Thank you Neely! I found those threads, spent my sleepless night last night scouring this forum! Maisy just abruptly woke up from her 9 hour sleep and is racing from one end of the apartment to the other, jumping over Millie with each pass. And how did I spend my nine quiet hours? Mostly pacing...

    Nightmare - ibuprofen

I have lots of news, first of which is that Millie has a new sister, who I initially called Gertie but renamed Maisy 😅 Maisy is an 18-week-old kitten who has been with me for 5 weeks now. Since she’s so young, when I need to be out of the home for 6+ hours, I have a pet sitter come. The pet...

My cat just forced the introduction!

My cats forced their intro as well - they just think they get to call all the shots around here ;) Sounds good so far! I'd definitely give them treats, play time, anything happy where they can smell each other for the next few days. Build that positive association! :) If hissing/growling/etc...

    Cat safe house plants

Yup! They don't have dangly bits - the Swedish ivy (also called Swedish begonia) leaves are really wide and unexciting I guess. The fern is dense and upright (unlike a bamboo or parlor palm), and the prayer plant also has wide, close-to-the-stem, boring leaves.

    Cat safe house plants

I like bird's nest fern, prayer plant, Swedish ivy, pancake plant, and African violets! My cats eat my bamboo palm and spider plant but they're hardy and nontoxic so, hey.

    Withdrawn cat

It’s awful isn’t it? I added a kitten for Millie’s sake too so it’s really really upsetting to see her so out of sorts. I saw a friend a couple of days ago who told me when her family added two kittens (they had a single adult cat) a year ago, it took months for the adult to even sit in the same...

    Withdrawn cat

I’m glad I clicked on this thread!! I’m about a week and a half ahead of you with a 2-year-old spayed female and a 4.5-month-old spayed female kitten. My adult, Millie, is also not acting herself. She and the kitten will sleep together, eat together, occasionally groom each other, and sometimes...

    Please. Any advice.

I'm glad you're watching him for symptoms! Based on what you've said here, I think he needs to see a vet as soon as possible. How long has it been since he has pooped or peed? When a cat or kitten goes into the litter box and tries to use it, but leaves without producing pee/poop, that is a...

Feline companion for cat who loves human attention?

Thank you both!!! :) I am a cat lady and I probably should’ve said - she has 5 cat trees (at least one in each room plus an extra in the bigger rooms), windows open always, no bird feeders allowed but we get tons of birds around here. All that and! two tunnels (one crinkle, one non-crinkle), a...

Feline companion for cat who loves human attention?

Thank you so much, @Furballsmom and @Mamanyt1953! I would definitely be really upset if she held a long-term grudge over my adding a cat-sibling, which is what holds me back. I actually have a security camera that catches some of the action - after I leave, she watches the door for a while...

Feline companion for cat who loves human attention?

Millie (2 year old Ragamuffin) loves human attention. She's really good, when I'm on a zoom or a phone call, she just situates herself in her basket next to my computer and waits patiently for me to finish up, even if it interrupts a play session. But I'm currently working outside of the home...

    12 hours of Loud Meowing!!!

Wow, so many great suggestions already! I’d definitely recommend finding out what vet your local Trap/Neuter/Release program uses, or any local org with a focus on ferals. That vet may have a different opinion than the vet you’ve already consulted with. Right now though you need to sleep! Do you...

New Cat Angry and Hiding! Not eating too

Oh yay!! So glad to read this :) it takes time sometimes! You might sit in the room while she eats and talk softly or read from a book/ebook, to help her further associate you with good things happening, and to underline that she’s safe with you. She might be ready to play with you, too! Was...

    My kitty has hepatic lipidosis...

Oh, Pudge, can’t you please give Cory a break! Sounds like it did get caught on something though. Oy. I’m so hoping you can avoid another surgery! Crossing everything and sending Pudge some munchy-vibes.

    Ate the end of a Q-tip -_-

I've seen a few people mention straws! I think she'd love that. Next time I'm in a Starbucks.... (they still have straws right?!?!) Ugh I actually bought two packs of those a few weeks ago because I thought they'd be perfect! Naturally she's not the slightest bit interested. I'll keep trying...

    Ate the end of a Q-tip -_-

You guys are amazing! Thanks for the feedback. It was just the cotton part - I dissected another one to compare the stub to in order to be completely certain. I'm normally quite a helicopter-cat-mom but I think in case of future mishaps I'm going to get some toys that are similar to q-tips (she...

    Ate the end of a Q-tip -_-

Millie loves playing with q-tips and I normally supervise her closely, but work interfered and she was with one with no supervision for an hour. She loves dipping things into water and she clearly did that with this q-tip, and then must've played with it - one end was completely removed and is...

Seeking advice on Ragamuffin vs Tonkinese breed

It sounds like your mind might be made up, but I just wanted to chime in, since I have a ragamuffin and I highly recommend this breed! Mine is undersized, probably because she's inbred (I rescued her at 18 months) at 7.5lbs. That said, her fur doesn't get in the way and isn't difficult to care...
