How did you teach your kitten/cat not to go up on the kitchen counter?

I have space in my kitchen for another small table. They are allowed on this. This way, they can watch everything and not be tempted to go on the counter. If you don't have space, try a cat tree.

Should you wake up a cat with nightmares?

I saw this in a cat on an episode of Jackson Galaxy's show. Not that I mean to scare you, but the cat had had a stroke and the only sign of it was the nightmares and violent twitching in his sleep. It might be worth asking the vet of they can determine this?

Kitten and 4 year old introduction help!

Hello, I have recently gone through this process and it took five weeks from the arrival of my two new kittens to playing with adult cat, Buffy. I live alone in the week, so could only do mutual play on weekends when my boyfriend was around. At first, that was impossible. My adult cat...

    Need help introducing two cats

It's interesting that you said you walked with confidence. That's excellent! Keep doing that. WWhen my cat blocks my kittens off and gets all territorial and swipey, I just breeze past her with full confidence and talk to her in the baby voice she loves. DSometimes I cheekily rub her...

    Need help introducing two cats

I'm glad you haven't squirted her. It teaches your cat nothing except you're not to be trusted. By your own admission, it doesn't change her behaviour at the next meal. What do you mean by swatting and barking when you go to feed her? When you're out coming into the room with bowl? As you are...

    Need help introducing two cats

Stop squirting your cat - it will erode her trust in you. It sounds like redirected or territorial aggression if she could smell the urine. Give kitty time to decompress after an incident.

Do people have pictures of how they did the visual step of the introduction process? Live in an apartment so need ideas

One baby gate. No need to stack because the adult cat had no interest in jumping over.

    Cats only answer to me??

Do you talk to your cat in 'baby voice'? Cats prefer high-pitched voices.

Successful introduction - now kittens won't leave adult cat alone

Yes you're right. The kittens were crazy this morning and were far more manic than if I had left them out.

Successful introduction - now kittens won't leave adult cat alone

Hi all, I have two kittens (15 weeks old) and an adult cat (5 years old). I've had the kittens since they were 8 weeks old and we took the introduction slowly. The process can be found on this thread: Introducing new kittens to resident cat. Last week, we allowed the kittens to roam in the...

Yes because the sight of the neighbour's cat will make her insecure about her territory.

Introducing new kittens to resident cat.

Dear fellow cat guardians, I want to say a huge thank you for all your support and help. We have been free roaming this weekend - and it's been great! Buffy and Ferius have found their equilibrium. They're still learning about each other - but it's going to be a positive journey. I'm so...

Introducing new kittens to resident cat.

Hi all, Thanks for your reassurance over the last few weeks. This weekend, the kittens would have been with us five weeks. We're going to allow them to roam during the day starting from Saturday. I'm nervous!!! Wish me luck.

Introducing new kittens to resident cat.

Hi Thank you for your excellent advice. I have a positive yet puzzling update. We are now feeding all cats 'semi-supervised'. This means I put the food down and go off but keep an eye out from the kitchen. This has been going well apart from one incident, which I will mention. All three of...

Introducing new kittens to resident cat.

Hi, I'm still doing that process. I agree with you regarding the positive association. I'm not sure why there was an escalation today when an hour before, it was fine with the other kitten.
