It seems like right now the resolution has been that cat 2 has just agreed not to sit on my lap :( hopefully things change!

A very jealous cat? how to work on this behavior?

That's true. They love each other, I wish there was a way that cat 1 would just be less possessive and jealous so cat 2 could get some love too!!

A very jealous cat? how to work on this behavior?

Yes it's just sad. It would be such a loving cat if the other cat wasn't so jealous and possessive

personal experience, I've found it very difficult for cats to change (like people). It's just their personality. I appreciate you trying your best in a tough situation.

A very jealous cat? how to work on this behavior?

Still having issues with this!! Cat 1 hadn't sat on my lap in 2 weeks and sat down today for a while. 30 minutes later cat 2 was meowing and following me around and I put them on my lap. They liked it, but immediately 5 seconds later cat 1 pounced on them and started fighting them/chasing her...

My dad is threatening to get rid of our cat

Sounds like a discipline issue, should never have started giving cat "human food". Maybe just don't let him in the kitchen when everyone is eating? That seems like the easiest solution and then if he still only eats human food, just go over and give it to him after everyone is done eating and...

Two resident cats and new cat fighting violently.

I really don't think this is healthy for any of these cats. At best one may "tolerate" the other after months and months of work, but at worst it just leaves all the cats traumatized and living less happy lives. I'd encourage you to look for a specific home for Dexter so you know if you do give...

honestly I'd give back dexter. I think they probably need a home for themselves and doesn't seem very fair to your 2 cats who are/were probably fine without this new violent cat coming along.

They are close! just that 1 cat is very territorial. We'll see.

A very jealous cat? how to work on this behavior?

Darn that sucks. Cat 2 was such a snuggly and lovable cat and I feel would be so happy being on my lap too :( They seem content with everything though so I guess that's ok. Cat 1 is just so jealous all the time, I guess maybe if I give them extra love it might get better I dont know

A very jealous cat? how to work on this behavior?

They are both 1 year old and fixed. Today cat 2 nearly got on my lap but hesitated and then ran off. Cat 1 sat on my lap again. I think there is clearly some sort of agreement or territorial issue now with my lap.

A very jealous cat? how to work on this behavior?

I have 2 cats who are siblings and both love each other. The problem is 1 of them is VERY territorial (cat 1) and I feel bad for my other cat (cat 2) Cat 2 used to be VERY cuddly and sweet, always sitting on my lap but cat 1 gets very upset and would give the evil eye to cat 2. I noticed the...

    rehoming cats massive guilt

Thank you very much. I will give updates but for now I’m taking a week or so off from the cats while other family members take care of them to let my chest and throat recover. Can’t even look at pictures or videos of them right now. Really sad but thank you for the support.

    rehoming cats massive guilt

I exercise 4 times a week and there has been no other change in my lifestyle other than having the cats and seeing way more fur constantly when I am around them from shedding. Also this is the first time my asthma has acted up in maybe a year or so. My chest also immediately tightens up when I...

    rehoming cats massive guilt

I took care of an indoor/outdoor cat for 11 months since it was a very little kitten without any issues, but I guess the difference was it would be outside most of the day which allowed me to vacuum and clean up the inside of the house. vs the 2 cats now who are strictly living in the house in...

    rehoming cats massive guilt

This is the thread that concerns me since it seems very similar to my situation in terms of medication: Will look into the food you recommended. Also getting Allerpet. Hope to keep trying different combinations for another 2-3 weeks and hopefully this is just a phase (I 100% know it's bc of...

    rehoming cats massive guilt

so got 2 kittens 4 or so months ago... everything has been going good until this week. they've started shedding tremendously, and having asthma I've been unable to breathe the last 4 nights or so even on Claritin and allerflo when trying to sleep. they are in a totally separate room , but...

    Feral cat socialization help

I'd recommend a VERY large wand toy such as this: Cat Dancer Products Rainbow Cat Charmer --- If that doesn't work possibly try an electronic mouse or something, but I find with shy cats they cant resit a very large stick toy like that. Playing is the best way to get feral cats to be more open...

one cat loves me, other one is indifferent

have had kittens (5-6 months old?) for about a month and a half so far. at first kitten A was very friendly towards me and kitten B was a major scaredy cat. After a few weeks both kittens were very sweet and friendly with me. The turning point seemed to be when we introduced a vacuum cleaner...
