In search of travel sized litter box (for pine pellets)

My cat uses pine pellets in her litter box. We love to travel, but it is a pain to pack the litter box and sifter tray. Is there a more portable option? There are several portable options for regular kitty litter, but not pine pellets. Wanted to know if you had any ideas.

Cat starting to not like her foods and eating less

My 5yr old indoor cat has loved her wet food for the past 2 years (alternate between 3 different flavors) since she was adopted, but recently has been only eating half her portion. Have to mix in treats in order to get her to finish. Is this common? No health issues identified. I've tried other...

Help needed... cat needs to drink more water.

Turns out Nina's not fond of ice, but have been pureeing the food with unsalted chicken stock and decreasing dry food. So far she seems ok with the change. Also heard that wet food can sit out for up to 4hours??

Cat grazing on wet food for too long....

I've been slowly transitioning my 4yr old female cat over to wet food. Yah! But she just grazes her wet food meaning that it can take 2+hours for her to finish her wet food portion. I understand that wet food shouldn't be left out for more than 30min? Working from home, I can better monitor her...

Help needed... cat needs to drink more water.

Yes. Based on my cat's weight, she needs 1 cup (8oz) of water per day. 1 small can only has 2.1 oz of water in it (70% water). Which is why I am adding an additional 4oz (8 tbsp) in her wet food. Ice cubes sound like a fun idea, but how do you keep them from sliding off the bowl and onto the...

Help needed... cat needs to drink more water.

I recently adopted my first cat (a 4yr old indoor torbie). Half her diet is Blue wet food, and the other half is dry food put into a puzzle feeder and in training. In order to ensure that she gets enough water in the day we've tried the water fountain, but that didn't do the trick. Therefore...

How long can a cat stay in a carrier on a road trip?

I have a 3yr old house cat which I've taken on a handful of 1.5 hour road trips without any problems. She'll whine a little, but overall seems to do well. No motion sickness yet. I would like to do a 6 hr road trip next month, and wanted to know if you had any specific tips to make the trip as...

    Coconut Oil on skin

Coconut oil is supposed to be a good option for itchy, irritated skin. Does anyone know the appropriate dosage of coconut oil as a topical treatment? Is it daily until symptoms resolve? Note, coconut oil is not approved for use by the ASPCA.

Can I give my cat human fish oil?

I don't have any cat fish oil in my pantry, and wanted to know if I can give her my fish oil from Whole Foods? Are all fish oils created equal? I assume human fish oil is more highly regulated, more expensive, and therefore safe for cats?

    Bald spot on hind leg!

I just noticed a pink bald spot (0.5cm) on the rear hind leg of my 3yr old torbie cat, right by the 'elbow' joint. I adopted her 6+ months ago, and have seen her gnaw on that spot before but not to an extent where hair loss occurred. Doesn't seem to bother her now. No other symptoms, not on any...

Cat stick twigs - how to use

My cat loves to chew on cat twigs/sticks, but to be honest, I am not sure how to use them. After one use, it's covered with drool, and am unsure how to store it to prevent mold. In addition, is it safe for cats to eat small pieces? How do i manage splintering of the ends? At what point should...

Kong Kitty Cat Toy - What to put in it?

I recently purchased a Kong Kitty Cat Toy, but don't know what to put inside of it. Putting in wet cat food gets really smelly and all over the floor. Dogs love it when they are stuffed with peanut butter. Are there any recipes for cats?

    Trust building with foster cat

I have been fostering a cat for 3-4 months, she's 3yrs old. Has a lot of energy, but can get overstimulated with excessive petting though she's getting a little better. The good: I have no problems picking her up and carrying her around (for about a minute), she definitely wants to be in the...

Ankle biting - advice needed for 3yo rescue

I have a new 3yo rescue, and she's lovely. She does get overstimulated easily, so happy to give her the space she needs. Sometimes in the morning or evening, however, she'll walk up and bite my gf's ankles while rarely every biting mine. It's usually while gf is working on her laptop. The cat's...

Cat won't let me hold paws during nail trimming

I have had a 3yr old rescue for 2 months, and she will not let me hold her paws. She is not a lap cat, and she prefers to keep her distance. I try to pet her paws, every so often, but she doesn't care for that. So right now, I've only been able to trim her nails when she's asleep, but she's a...

3yr old rescue - Chews on cables, cardboard, rubber bands, pine pellets, and more

I have a 3yr old rescue, and have had her for 2 months now. She's gradually been chewing on more and more things over time. When I've had her home on her own, I've only discovered her chewing on paper. So she's pretty good on that end When I am home, she generally follows me around (not a lap...
