I am currently dealing with this. He hasn't been diagnosed with IBD as my (new) vet wants to evaluate again after the 1 year mark. At first, RC GI High Energy helped - instead of running to the box within 5 minutes of eating and having accidents, he makes it to the box and stools have firmed up...
They are both just 7 months. They’d been on Chicken Soup kitten wet and dry in the shelter. I got them at just under 4 months and kept them on a mix of that and Science Diet wet. So they had the same dry and I mixed in the SD wet hoping it would help. Early December I transitioned Neptune to a...
Hi! I brought him in and decided to go to a new vet given our history with both kittens being sick frequently. The vet checked for feline leukemia (negative thankfully) and checked his eyes over. Lungs, heart, and all other physical stuff checked out good so the vet thought Haws. He’s eating and...
Hi again all,
I’m continuing Neptune on the RC GI high energy and wet Merrick limited ingredient duck. I’ve added probiotics AND sweet potato. Stools have gone from thick liquid to soft serve ice cream - sorry if that’s gross. He’s still very gassy and smelly! How long do I continue on those...
Hi all,
I’ve read conflicting advice about changing up protein sources. I have one kitten who can eat anything and one that I’m still struggling with. I’ve read that it’s beneficial to have kittens try multiple protein sources and textures, but with a sensitive belly, I’m feeling like I should...
Update-
Had a good chat with the new vet. I shared a brief history. He examined Neptune and I was relieved to hear he didn’t notice anything off with his heart, lungs, lymph nodes, coat, mouth, everything. I nearly fainted when he suggested a recheck for FelV and I’m relieved to report it was...
That’s a good point about why he might have it but just not terribly. I’ve been adding lysine to their food now since Monday and I plan to keep going a few times a week regularly as other members do.
Thank you for your response. I asked about herpes, and was told they should be fine since they had the series of vaccinations. I’m wondering if they were exposed when they were strays and so young. Perhaps the vet saying they’d be fine was easier than explaining they couldn’t get an accurate...
Some of you may recognize my name as I’ve posted and commented here a bunch this fall about my babies Neptune and Josephine.
Neptune appears sick again and I’m taking him to a new vet today.
Since bringing him home from a local shelter in mid-September, this is a brief medical history.
-week...
I’m hopping in on this thread. My kitten seems to be sick - of course my only sign is his third eyelids popped up the evening of the 23rd and I thought it could have been his teething making him in pain.
They’re still up, and I was told this doesn’t warrant an emergency vet visit. My usual vet...
I’ve thought he could have gotten into something. I gave them a little catnip yesterday and that’s the only thing I can think of, and it looked like a few specks were in the vomit. I will offer stuff to chew on.
Thanks, I’ll start with lysine and hope he can fight it off. Yesterday was just weird. Before he puked that one time, I had my foam pillow out of the outer case to do laundry. I came into my room to find bloody tooth marks all over and I’ve found teeth, so I know he’s teething. I wonder if that...
Well, I am back with more frustration. Last night, my other kitten vomited once and since then, his haws have been up. He’s acting normally but I’m nervous and of course, my vet is closed the rest of the week.
I have lysine and leftover antibiotics. I’m tempted to give him a dose just in case...
