    BAD biting problem

I just bought some of those dryer balls, so the minute I read your post I got one out and tossed it. She caught up with it and promptly sat on it. 🤣 She's mildly interested, but whenever I roll it down the hall, she gives me a look that says, "I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you expect me to...

    BAD biting problem

Never thought about "no go" zones. All of my previous cats loved attention, whenever and however they could get it, so that's new territory for me. And she may just be a touch-me-not type who wants to be around us, but that's about it - she's never been a "hold me!" kitty. That doesn't explain...

    BAD biting problem

Her last vet visit was two years ago, so yes, it's time for a checkup. I probably don't play with her enough, now that you mention it. She does wrestle with the Lil Bub stuffed cat (it purrs and meows, and I had it in her playpen when she was a baby), but not very often. Her favorite game is...

    BAD biting problem

I'm back again with another problem, folks. Our Kiki, who I found in our fire pit as a 2-week old and is now a great big 3 1/2-year old moose, has a serious problem with biting -- and it's not just playful nips or grabs. She strikes like a pit viper. These attacks aren't terribly frequent, and...

When you don't want to say goodbye

Thank you all so much for your kind words and suggestions. I took a few days off and went to the mountains by myself, to think and prepare, and I also thought that some time away would provide a more objective viewpoint of his condition when I returned home - and it did. When I came back, Baboo...

When you don't want to say goodbye

My Baboo and I have been inseparable since he was six weeks old. Baboo has always been the kitty that changed people’s minds about cats. Though he’s been a fierce protector, running to the door and growling when someone knocked, he never met a stranger once they stepped inside. He loved people...

Salem will be crossing the bridge in a couple hours.

Thank you... I've been struggling for the last few weeks with making a decision about our Baboo. This will help.

Carrier anxiety - and a move coming up!

Thanks - that made me feel better about giving it to her. I've never had to medicate any of my cats (I've had 25 over my lifetime) prior to travel, so it's quite foreign territory to me.

Carrier anxiety - and a move coming up!

Good idea, and thank you! I do have some old sheets that I'll actually be getting rid of, so I'll "get cuttin'" on 'em.

Carrier anxiety - and a move coming up!

Many thanks for your advice, and for the link to the article! Unfortunately, I used a soft carrier in the past and Her Majesty was not pleased with that one, either. Looks like the huge carrier might be my best bet, since it's a confinement issue. I hadn't thought about putting kitty treats in...

Very Frantic Feeder! I've Tried Everything...

Chicago! I was born in Waukegan and lived in Lake County for 32 years before moving to NC! 😊 Inguinal hernias are generally closer to the groin area, so the location might determine the degree of surgical complexity. Crossing my fingers that they're just umbilical after all. If the bumps are...

Very Frantic Feeder! I've Tried Everything...

Hi, Jonikat - I just saw your question now. Kiki (formerly known as Tinky) made it through her spay and hernia surgery just fine, and is now almost 18 months old, fat and sassy! The hernia was a simple repair, and the vet only charged me $30 in addition to the spay.

Carrier anxiety - and a move coming up!

My Kiki is now about 18 months old, and she's always been very anxious in the carrier when going to the vet. She cries and pants, almost to the point of hyperventilation. She's always fine when I let her out of the carrier when we get home (it's a 30-minute ride each way); she just hates being...

    Female kitten displaying male behavior...?

I've had many cats over my lifetime, and not one of them has ever displayed this kind of behavior (either the odd things in her cat bed or the aggression). Trust me, I've had to use the loud "no!" more times than I can count, and it doesn't faze her in the least - in fact, it spurs her on. She...

    Female kitten displaying male behavior...?

Our Tinky, who just turned 6 months old this week, has started exhibiting what appears to be male mating behavior. We recently bought her a new donut bed that's extremely cushy, thinking it would be a nice "mama belly" feel for her... sure enough, when she gets in it, she starts kneading, but...

Very Frantic Feeder! I've Tried Everything...

Howdy, fellow cat lovers... Been away from the site for quite a while with elder care duties, and finally got a moment to break away! Hope all of you are well, and had a wonderful holiday season! Little Tinky continues to grow and flourish, and is now 17 weeks old. She's taken over the house...

Very Frantic Feeder! I've Tried Everything...

Funny how these things work themselves out. She's asleep now under my desk, at my feet. Who'da thunkit? :zzzcat:

Very Frantic Feeder! I've Tried Everything...

Yes, we are an indoor-only cat family! Too many hazards out there for kitties. I'll be taking her in for another deworming and first shots next week, so I'll ask about the surgeries then. I believe part of this is my fault for over-protecting her. The hernia incident really freaked me out...

Very Frantic Feeder! I've Tried Everything...

Sarthur2, funny you should say that. I pretty much left them to their own devices this afternoon, and now she's worshipping him from afar. In fact, she's asleep in the recliner next to the double-decker table where he's sleeping. That's a first! I haven't talked to the vet about the...
