Worried about my kitten eating not enough by far

Neko has always been like that...I was worried that he was not eating enough according to the feeding instruction. He was also on ACANA, and ate the same amount as the adult's recommended amount. It would be impossible to get him to eat 2-3x of that. But he has been healthy, gaining weight at a...

Pate style canned food causes stool issues?

I already do spread the food across the plate, and he just licks it up from left to right within a couple minutes lol. It seems like he doesn't chew on it at all. I'm so jealous of other cat parents who can give all sorts of wet food to their cat! I love food shopping!

Pate style canned food causes stool issues?

Thank you for the detailed reply! It definitely takes him much longer to eat shredded meat vs pate. He finishes the pate food within 2 minutes of me putting it down, whereas it can take him 8-10 minutes to finish the shredded food. I didn't think mussels could be a problem as well. Sigh I guess...

Pate style canned food causes stool issues?

I'm not sure if this topic falls under Cat Health or Cat Nutrition, but since the issue is related to Neko's stool, so I'm posting it here... So the problem is that I have noticed everytime I give my 8 months old Neko pate style canned food, his stool always become somewhat abnormal. It's...

    Kitten doesn't want wet food

My kitten is 7 months old now, and since I got him at 3 months old, he has always been drinking around 120ml - 150ml a day. He would drink a little bit more if I played with him a lot on that day. He was on dry food only at the beginning, and I have since then added some wet food to his daily...

    Wet Bottom

I actually just asked the same question a couple days ago lol. I noticed my kitten is doing this as well, but he is only leaving the wet spot after using litter box and before he cleans. Good to hear I’m not the only one with this problem

Kitten doesn't clean himself right after peeing

Wow thanks for all the replies! I'm 99% sure it's from his fur because I tried to hold him once right after he uses litterbox, and my hand felt wet fur on his bottom. I also noticed he seems to squat down a bit lower these days, like almost touching the litter, and his hair is getting denser and...

Kitten doesn't clean himself right after peeing

Hi, My kitten Neko is now 7 months old. He is a short hair male kitty. Every time he comes out of the litter box, he doesn't lick his bottom right away. He usually walks and sits around a bit, then finds a spot and start cleaning. About a week ago, I started noticing that he would leave a small...

Introducing new kitten to adult cat -- advice?

Yes, only for three and half weeks. A bit too short for a properly introduction, but also a bit too long to leave the cat at home (with me checking on her a couple times a day). We tried to lock her up in one room, and she didn't like that! She would zoom out everytime I open the room's door, so...

Introducing new kitten to adult cat -- advice?

I'm actually facing a similar situation, except that my resident cat is a 6 month old male kitten, and I'm taking care of my friend's 1.5 year old female cat. When my friend's cat came over, the resident kitten looks very friendly and went right up to touch noses and carefully follows the female...

Cat shakes head after ear drops

May I ask how many days do you usually use it on your cat? The vet told me to use it twice a day for 10 days.

Cat shakes head after ear drops

Hi, I took my 6 month old Neko to the vet today, and he was diagnosed with a mild ear inflammation. The vet prescribed an ear drop called Surolan, and applied it for him. It has been over an hour since we got home, and he is still constantly shaking his head and groom/scratch his ears. There is...

    New Kitten Alone In House?

When we got our kitten at 3 months of age, we left him home alone while we go to work. We leave the house around 7AM and get back around 5:30PM, sometimes a bit later. So that's a good 10 hours. He was fine on his own. He hid in the basement for the first week or so when no one is home, but he...

    Ear wax or ear mite?

Thanks for the replies! I have been checking on his ears daily, and I think the situation has improved in the last two days. The vet said to keep an eye on it and book an appointment if he continues to get a lot of discharge. Fingers crossed!

    Ear wax or ear mite?

Thanks! It’s my first time owning a cat, so I have no idea what’s considered normal! And btw, how often should I be cleaning their ears? I talked to a few friends and they say they rarely need to clean their cats ears, but then I read online and see people also suggest to clean them “regularly”

    Ear wax or ear mite?

Hello! Can anybody help me to see if Neko’s (5mo old, indoor kitten) ear requires vet attention? He gets this brownish red-ish dry discharge in his left ear (right ear is clean), and looks like the discharge is only in the outer part of the ear and in the crevices. I tried to look deeper as far...

Thanks for the explanation! Doing regular bloodwork for cat never crossed my mind before! I will make sure to discuss it with my vet next time.
