Have you tried switching them to pine pellet litter? There is no better odor control imo. There is NO SMELL at all. The only thing it ever smells like is wood, even if I let the litter go for a few days. Its $6 for a 40lb bag at Rural King/Tractor Supply.

If you dont mind my asking? What kind of self scooping litterbox do you have? I use one (litter robot open air) and it has been very helpful with my picky cat's litter problems (one of my cats wouldnt use the litter if there was even a hint of pee/poo in the litter).

Dont beat yourself up. It is often very difficult to bottle/syringe feed kittens with a nursing mother. It is good that you are going to facilitate his nursing to make sure he gets enough. :)
