    Stray cat causing trouble

He likes to hide under the porch of my mom's "she shed." We could put a trap in the entrance and it would be pretty concealed, but we'd probably have to pry the lattice off to get it in and out, so maybe not that easy. I like the idea of making a hiding place next to that one that he might go...

    Stray cat causing trouble

Thanks! They only have two unneutered males right now, and this particular tom seems to be picking fights with only the other fixed cats. We used a similar method to catch the other cats, and they're really close to being able to catch the more timid tom and get him taken care of. Maybe that...

    Stray cat causing trouble

Thank you! Yes, they are free fed for the most part; I think my mom picks the dishes up at night to deter scavengers and there's not a whole lot left over after feeding times when the other cats are done, but there's clearly enough that he is still getting something. I'll suggest that solution...

Question of the Day - Monday, March 18, 2024

Mountains or hills, plenty of water and greenery, rain and snow are both great but sunshine too. Lows down to -20 and highs only as high as the 80s.

    Stray cat causing trouble

My parents live on a farm, and growing up we had barn cats. Eventually it got to the point that they only had one male cat, but over a couple of years other cats moved in and now they have a small colony they are caring for. Some are tame so they were easy to get vaccinated and spayed/neutered...

Question of the Day, Sunday, March 10th

Ice water is my absolute favorite. I drink from the five gallon bottles at my house and at work, but my favorite water is at my parents' house. They have a well and a reverse osmosis system, plus some add on that puts minerals back into the water. I love it.

Question of the Day - Thursday March 7, 2024

Addressing climate change, and also restoring natural ecosystems. Bringing back the tallgrass prairie. Reintroducing native animals, like bison and others. Fighting for clean air and water. Ethical animal rescues. Pushing back against poverty/homelessness and other often related things like...

Question of the Day, Saturday, March 2

I guess it doesn't bother me, but it does feel a bit strange for some reason. I have kind of an unusual name and friends/family will shorten it to a nickname (and my nephew calls me by a different shortened version of the name). But random people calling me by a nickname can feel overly familiar.

Question of the Day - Thursday February 29, 2024

I'd say certain cleaning things, like dusting and mopping and cleaning the windows. I've found I'll make a list of stuff I need to do, but when I get home from work sometimes just getting one or two things done feels like a major accomplishment.

Question of the Day - Monday, February 26, 2024

Peanut butter and jelly. Toasted bread, butter on one of the slices of bread, and strawberry jam.

Question of the Day, Saturday, February 24

I don’t buy them because they are expensive, but probably thin mints. I really loved the ones that had animals on them, and were like a shortbread with chocolate coating on the back. But they discontinued them.

Question of the Day - Tuesday, February 13

Ron Swanson. I might be fine, lol.

Question of the Day - Monday, February 12, 2024

I walk to work, which with the back and forth adds up to about an hour of walking a day. I don't always listen to podcasts on my walk, but I do sometimes. They're mainly dog related podcasts, though.

What sickness is going around in your area?

Yeah, I caught whatever this bug is twice now from my niece who has a perpetual cold (she's little). First round I had a fever, this time no fever but my cough has been rougher. I've been taking a lot of days and just working from home, which luckily I am able to do, and hopefully it will clear...

Question of the Day, Wednesday, February 7, 2024

Other people being there. I firmly believe we'd all be happier if every public restroom was a self-contained room. Otherwise, lots of trash, if someone missed the toilet, or if they didn't flush.

    Opinions on having plants around

I don't have any plants that might drop poisonous pollen (like lillies). I do have a couple of plants that would probably be harmful if chewed on - a pathos, a cactus, and a snake plant. Friday has never been one to go for anything beyond catnip or cat grass, but I still have them all high...

Question of the Day - Thursday January 11, 2024

Dog stuff, lol. I bought a book, a new leash that hopefully my parents can use for their energetic puppy, and a handheld treat dispenser that looks kind of like a large Pez where you stuff a hot dog or stick of cheese inside and it cuts off individual pieces. Probably my most random purchase but...

    Goofy. April 30, 2008-January 8, 2024

I'm sorry for your loss, he was such a handsome boy and it sounds like he was very loving as well. Truly one of a kind.

Question of the Day, Sunday December 17th

Kind of? My favorite color is yellow, maybe like a golden yellow. And apparently I'm an "autumn" so yellow is one of the colors that should look good with my coloring. But I do think I look better in greens (like olive green) and browns.

Question of the Day, Friday, 15 December 2023

Monster cookies, they have a little bit of everything. I also like chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin.
