Just got home from the doctor. My kitty does NOT have an ear polyp! I am SO happy! He looked way down her ear canals to verify. It is just a glob of wax, that he said is normal for elderly cats. Phew!!!
While there they gave her an injection of prednisone and antibiotics for her IBD.
So...
My daughter got a kitten years ago that would do the same thing. When she became the only cat in the household, she became more confident and started to meow. Now she is VERY vocal! At times, though, she will still do the 'open mouth and no sound comes out' thing.
Hi Sidney: regarding your mention of cancer. My kitty's doctor told me that he usually sees the IBD down the road turn into cancer. About three years ago he saw the beginning signs of cancer in her blood work. After we put her on the Hills Thyroid diet, her numbers got better. He said that...
I am SO happy to find this thread! I do NOT like the human babies/kids! When one comes in the office, I try to hide. Cat/kitten dog/puppy - I am there! I don't tell people because they do not get it. My mom is trying to convince me that if I had grandchildren, I would feel differently. I'm...
I'm glad you found the automatic feeder! My cat's life revolves around that thing (for the dry food). She is also 100% on the Hills TY (thyroid) prescription diet. Her doctor said that he sees the IBD cats do well with this food, and I noticed a BIG difference when I first put her on it. She...
Sidney: I just realized I didn't quite answer your question. We have been dealing with this 4-5 years, but it took about one/two years to really work things out. Now as things come up we take a visit to her doctor and he may change up something. So we are in the management stage.
After...
Hi Sidney,
My kitty and I have been dealing with this for about four/five years. She did start out with vomiting, though she also has vomited when she is constipated. It's been a long road, but I am so happy to have had these extra years with her! She's my baby, don't know what I'd do...
Hi Emilie,
I think I hit post reply before I meant to! Personally, I have never liked boarding a cat, bad past experience. If your father is okay with it, a preferred method is pet sitting (what you mentioned), which means that kitty would stay home and someone would come by to take care of...
I have been dealing with a kitty with IBD for about five years. After much trial and error, her current regimen is 1/4 tspn (sometimes a bit more) Mirilax once a day, prednisone crushed and mixed with wet foot once a day, shot of B12 (.5) once a week, and a strict diet of SD Hills Thyroid food...
Thank you for your reply! I have a good working relationships with my kitty's doctor, so I know that he is always honest and up front with me - which I have always appreciated!
It looks like my kitty has an ear polyp and will be visiting her doctor this weekend. She's almost 16 and I don't like the idea of surgery. Does anyone know of a good natural remedy that would 'dissolve' the polyp?
Thank you!
