Cat has URI and is super congested

My 8 month old kitten just got sick for the first time and he’s having a hard go. We are on day 5 of the URI. It started with sneezing and a runny nose and progressed to bad congestion today. Yesterday we had a vet visit and he was prescribed liquid doxy. He’s only had two doses so far..he was...

    Swollen bump on cats lip

My otherwise healthy 3 year old cat recently had this pop up today. In the span of about 8 hours I feel like it already grew a bit. We’re having a major infestation of Asian Lady Beetles (not ladybugs, these ones bite and can emit a nasty liquid when crushed) in my area and everywhere is being...

Sudden Feline Hyperesthesia Symptoms, caused by fleas?

Yeah, I'm hoping its just sensitivity to the fleas. He is a bit aggressive towards himself but not to the point where I'm worried he's going to draw blood. The first day it started was the worst though, and the twitching was like an 8 hour episode. I seen FHS usually doesn't last that long...

Sudden Feline Hyperesthesia Symptoms, caused by fleas?

I have a 1.5 year old neutered male cat who started displaying symptoms of FHS just a day ago. It completely started out of the blue. I went to bed and he was fine, and I woke up 8 hours later and he was running around like he was scared, to the point he was panting. He's no longer running...

Does this sound like a URI or bronchitis? Vet visit or wait?

Well I have 3 kitties going to the vet tomorrow. I think I was able to separate in time before it spread. Hopefully just a bad uri and nothing too serious!

Does this sound like a URI or bronchitis? Vet visit or wait?

So I have 9 kitties, all indoor. Almost all of them have been completely vaccinated except my 2 youngest ones which I was waiting on their neuter appointment for. I started noticing one of them started sneezing and coughing (I guess it's considered coughing?) randomly about 3 days ago. I thought...

Kitten with food aggression and is mounting my other cats

I have a kitten who I took in at 6wks old. The rescue I got him from bottle-fed him and he was raised with one other littermate, but no adult cats so he wasn't able to learn to socialize much, I guess. After I got him I fed him kitten milk formula up until 8wks along with dry food because he was...

It’s become impossible to give subq at home

When I gave subq fluids to my cat the needles they gave me (18g?) were way too big, and my cat hated them. They hurt him so bad and he would flinch and try to get away. Switching to smaller ones helped a lot, and most of the time he didn't even notice when I stuck him. I either used 21g or 22g...

Has anyone dealt with renal cell carcinoma and chemo.

Thank you for the thoughts. We had a long talk with the oncologist and treatment most likely isn't feasible. The cost would be around $600/month and it may not even help. We were told only one cat has ever been documented to have the same diagnosis as him (rcc in both kidneys) and it was...

Has anyone dealt with renal cell carcinoma and chemo.

My cat was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (rcc) of both kidneys so there is no option for surgery. Prognosis is poor. We are meeting with an oncologist to hopefully see if we can start him on some type of chemo (most likely Palladia) which may or may not help give him some more time. I have...

    Urinary block

I had a cat with a blockage and that's about the same cost I paid at the emergency vet. It is rough. We were told he had to go on a special diet but that just wasn't going to happen. We added water fountains around the house and added a few self-filling water bowls to encourage him to drink...

Is oral b12 just as effective as b12 injections?

Trying to do my research and see which is more effective before I start giving it to my senior cat. He has trouble absorbing protein and pees most of it out, is very anemic, losing weight, and has issues with his kidneys. I just got a kidney aspiration done, waiting on results, still no idea...

Senior cat has lots of protein in his urine and is losing weight - easy digestible protein?

Thanks for the links! I actually did find one that list that seems really good (Weruva) and its only few dollars more than the Science Hill and contains lower phosphorus. It has more protein but I wonder if it will be easy for him to digest (does anyone know?)

Senior cat has lots of protein in his urine and is losing weight - easy digestible protein?

I have a senior cat who is consistently losing weight. He is sitting around a little under 7lbs when he should be about 10lbs+. He had a 2 month checkup with the vet and we performed another blood and urine test and his levels were almost the same as last time - kidneys just a tad bit worse...

Found a hard black lump on cats back

I found a small-ish hard lump on the back of my senior cat (16). I would say it’s about the size of a pinky nail. As I was shaving the area to get a closer look a piece flaked off, and it bled a tiny bit as you can see from the second photo. It doesn’t bother him when I touch it. I didn’t notice...

Is urinary pH formulated food bad long term?

I have 7 cats who are on a diet which makes their urine a pH of 6.3 or less. Only one needs to be on it as he has crystals, but I rather avoid a blockage before it happens because dealing with it is so more expensive than just buying special food, so they all get fed it, including a 16 year old...

Open socket after eye removal - drainage normal?

Good to hear it’s normal and I’ve been doing ok with it. I’ll ask about the runny nose next vet visit. Thank you!

Open socket after eye removal - drainage normal?

I recently adopted a senior kitty (16) who had a ruptured eye and had it removed. I guess they decided not to sew the eye closed for whatever reason and it’s just an open socket. It’s been like that for months before I adopted him so it’s not like a fresh wound. The shelter didn’t tell me if I...

    CHF and Euthanasia experience

Let me preface this by saying I trust the vet completely and I know there was no intentional suffering, my kitty was just really sick and not every case is cut and dry. I’m just looking to see if anyone else had any experiences like this, I guess for some type of comfort. So my senior cat was...
