cat throwing up/not keeping food down

I am familiar with that site--it's such a great resource! I have a couple of cans of Hill's i/d food for today/tomorrow to help with the pancreatitis. He was eating Satiety pate, which I know is not the best for him, but for a while his weight was more of a concern because he was struggling to...

cat throwing up/not keeping food down

I took him to the vet this morning and he has pancreatitis. He's eating much better now! Unfortunately his kidney values have gotten much worse (creatinine 4.6) but I'm guessing the vomiting is mainly caused by the pancreatitis. Thank you for the input!

cat throwing up/not keeping food down

He is peeing okay. He has diabetes and kidney disease so he always pees a lot. I don't know if he's peeing as much, but still a good amount and he's drinking a bit less since he doesn't feel well, so that makes sense. He had some poops in the box. Not so much in the last 12-24 hours, but if he...

cat throwing up/not keeping food down

Thank you very much for the reply! I do have beef broth and chicken broth (without salt). He was loving the chicken broth before this (I gave it to him post surgery) but just sniffed it tonight. I do also have cooked chicken. It's not boiled, but it's cooked just in the oven with water, so it...

    Cat swollen lip

I'm not sure, but it's always possible she's simply injured herself. I'm sure you've already google it, but I found this website: Vet Advice: 9 Surprising Reasons Your Cat’s Lip Is Swollen - NPHQ Veterinarian (naturalpetshq.com) I hope she's okay!

cat throwing up/not keeping food down

Hi-- My cat, Tex, has been throwing up for the past couple of days. The first time he threw up was late Thursday night. I also found in the morning that he had had diarrhea. (I don't think he has had that since.) I was gone all day Friday. I gave him a small amount of Recovery canned food, which...

Cat wants to eat but doesn't, tests all healthy

Is it possible he's constipated? Or I looked into a dental issue FORL which is apparently common in cats but very hard to diagnose visually. Unfortunately you need dental x-rays to diagnose it.

Cat wants to eat but doesn't, tests all healthy

I had a problem with Tex wanting to eat but not actually eating a couple of weeks ago. It turned out to be a mouth ulcer. He kept trying to eat but struggling. Eventually he was pawing at his mouth (just a couple of times). I hope you figure it out and it's nothing too bad!

    Cataracts

Lol, don't worry! I'm with him 100% during his hallway visits. It's a small building, and a small hallway, just 7 other apartments.and he knows which ones let him (pre covid, unfortunately) and goes mostly to thos doors. But rest assured, his hallway visits are extremely safe and supervised. 🙂...

next steps for potential kidney issues?

I'm glad she's doing well!! Tex's kidney values hav been borderline for years and he was put on a prescription food Hills K/D Kidney Care. It comes in wet and dry, and the wet comes in a stew or pate form. He loves it! Although he will only eat th stew, while my friend's cat would only eat the pate.

    Cataracts

So, the news from the vet today was reasonably good, considering the circumstances. 🙂 Tex is definitely blind (almost...I think he can see some light/shadows), bit it's not glaucoma. His left eye had somewhat higher pressure, but still a saf number, so he will just get rechecked in a few months...

    Cataracts

Hello again, Tex seems to be doing okay overall. He definitely has massively impaired vision, just not sure why. He's going in to the vet Thurs morning. His kidney infection has cleared, which is great! And he's eating well and seems fine besides the vision. I'm wondering about detached retinas...

    Cataracts

Thank you! I will look into that group. My most immediate concern is glaucoma vs. cataracts. His pupils are very dialated, but there does not seem to be any swelling, pus, or bloodshot eyes.

    Cataracts

Thank you for the reply 🙂 As I did more research today, I found the same info. Tex was on baytril for 10 days, but I noticed his appetite was better when on it, so I thought he likely needed a longer dose, so we put him on a bit longer. I talked to my vet today, and I'm going to stop the baytril...

    Cataracts

Hello, My 14 year old boy has had mild cataracts for 3 years now because of diabetes His kidneys have recently gotten worse (early stage 3) and he has been on baytril for a kidney infection. On the last day, his cataracts seem to be massively worse. I'm going to call my vet in the morning, but...

    Diagnosis??

Shes at guelph OVC now with my parents. They still think there may be a mass in her lungs, but they also think pnemonia. Anyone have experience with pnemonia? Is it possibly to have it for quite a while undiagnosed? They are doing ultrasound tomorrow and proceeding from there.

    Diagnosis??

Thank you...I certainly hope it will be treatable too. Ideally (I think) it might be a lump between her lungs that can be removed. Even if it eventually came back, it could be a couple years. Just waiting to hear from Guelph about an emergency MRI.

    Diagnosis??

We took george in today for a follow up. Bloodwork still about the same. But shes been having quick breathing and discovered she has fever if 105. Shes on antibiotics. Did an xray...vet said it's hard to see her heart, which makes her think there is either fluid in or around lungs or, more...

    Diagnosis??

George's bloodwork all came back the same as a few weeks ago, so that seems good. She does not have pancreatitis. She's on different food now and seems to like it...hopefully her weight goes up. I think itll just be a waiting game for now. Thanks for all the advice!

    Diagnosis??

Also, she is being tested for pancreatitis. And she does not get any human food. My parents are very careful about that. Their other cat would be much more likely to get I to it. George hasn't been interested in human food since she was a kitten (not that she got any...but she used to try).
