The litter is unscented but the litter box isn't covered because i read articles that said they don't like covered boxes do you think a covered litter box will make a difference

I have tried moving his paws around in the box but he just gets super squirmy and wants to leave, we have also tried changing the litter but had no luck :/ I haven't tried an enclosed litter box so I will definitely try that! Thank you!
