You're not a bad cat parent at all! It took my girl Rosa eight months before I was able to pet her - she hissed at me anytime I got close! (This was an extreme case, lol - she was rescued as a semi-feral kitten and had been returned to the rescue by a previous family, so she took her time...
I just got one of these for my cats! It has really eased my anxiety - every time I check on them, they're sleeping. Today they only changed spots once each. :lol: It's easy to set up too!
I mean, in addition to mounting her, his hips were also moving in a rhythmic motion?? I've also seen him do it without the hip movement, but I think there is an actual thrusting element, even if he is (very fortunately) confused about what goes where. Again, though, he was neutered only a month...
@Willowy This made me laugh and also feel silly for being so worried. Thank you! I do think they're fine. They're just weird. But she's never had any compunction in whomping anyone (including me) before, so you're right.
@inkysmom Thanks so much for your experience - sounds like this can come up in a lot of different ways so I'm glad it's not just my cat being a perv lol!
@ArtNJ I mean, there was definitely humping happening, but if this is just normal play and some dominance assertion then I can definitely...
@kissthisangel Thank you, it's SO helpful to hear about other people's experiences and your fur babies sound super adorable!
Fortunately, Jake's tummy has normalized and he's doing great on increasingly larger portions of the Purina EN - my vet thinks it was just a fluke that he had diarrhea...
Hello! I have two cats - Rosa (2F) and Jake (1M). Rosa's been with me since last August (you can read about my journey with her here!), and Jake came home about 3.5 weeks ago, both from the same rescue organization. The introductions were slow but went great, and the cats are safely co-existing...
@stephanietx Thank you so much for telling me what worked for your little guy! That's really interesting
So far, so good with the probiotic (once daily, approximately half a packet - although how I am supposed to tell what half of a 1g packet looks like without being a drug dealer and having a...
@nurseangel I did some research and the store-brand pumpkin (100% puree, not the pie filling, of course, lol!) is the same stuff as in the Weruva packets, just waaaay cheaper for the amount you get.
@FeebysOwner I did message the rescue and apparently he was eating Friskies wet food and...
@Talien Right now my vet doesn't recommend a raw food diet, but I'd consider it if it comes up. Fortunately we're still early in the process!
@rubysmama Thank you!!! Jake's Purina is also vet-only and a bit pricey, so I'm sure the switch wouldn't be that big a deal.
@Etarre Aw, I'm so glad...
@Jcatbird lol it's not fun but I'm sure it's hilarious seeing me try to get this cat to show me his bum! Poor guy. I'm hoping we can get him settled on something consistent soon - he's a bit underweight according to my vet and could stand to gain a bit. But despite the paper towel, he's SUPER...
Hi all! Just hoping for some advice on my new cat, Jake (1 year old), who is a very recent rescue and has had a pretty crazy couple of months. He was rescued from a hoarder's shed in April with about 50 other cats who were confined, so I don't know much about his nutritional history but assume...
Hi everyone! So sorry for disappearing - it's been a super crazy year so far and I just lost track of some things. Hopefully I can make it up to you with some great updates!
#1. I got Rosa a friend. I've been worried for a while that she gets lonely and I'm going to be traveling more this year...
@Talien thank you - and yes, the gabapentin is just for vet visits! I don't think I was clear about that in my post, apologies. I do hope eventually she won't need it, as the vet does come here, but she's got a vaccine booster shot coming due next month that I want her to have.
@Etarre I may...
@Talien thanks for the suggestion. I've had the original Feliway diffuser since I brought her home, and I will test the new one for a few days before changing her diet, but I don't think it will make enough of a difference if I'm being honest. The sedatives are solely for vet visits and she does...
Oh my gosh, apologies! I went on holiday in December and apparently never remembered to log back in to check here.
Rosa's doing pretty well! I'd say she's made some progress for sure since my last post. I was away for two weeks at Christmas and she dealt with the pet sitter coming every day...
Oh! I had a good experience with Bravecto - I scared myself reading internet anecdotes after the treatment, but truthfully my cat didn't have any short-term or long-term effects that I can see for now. I can't speak to its off-label use as we just had plain old fleas, but the medication itself...
@rosegold Thank you! I love reading about Chai and Chilli too - they are so beautiful and such a huge inspiration to me as a success story. <3
@rubysmama I honestly was just so proud that she didn't hide the entire time my best friend was here! The guy's voice was quite loud so I didn't blame...
I figured it was time for an update again! Rosa and I have been doing well, even though some new things have happened:
1) The pet sitter I'm hiring for Christmas came over for a meet and greet. Rosa was NOT thrilled. He is a lovely older gentleman (who works with an insured company) but his...
Get your cat treated for fleas. Period. This is one of the costs of being a pet owner and you are obligated to take care of this poor girl. Your cat is uncomfortable, she could get very sick, and the infection could be a serious problem.
Step 1 is a flea treatment for your cat. Your vet can...
