She's picky and doesn't like many things. She used to love hydra care, sardines, tuna but since I tried to mix the supplements with them, she doesn't even try to lick them anymore. I can't give cheese and certain foods because she has a high cholesterol level and I'm giving her the...
I have supplements in veggie capsules and tried mixing the powder in with the food, with Hydra Care, pill pockets (too small), treat, none of them worked, so started to syringe it directly in the mouth but my cat started to resist taking the supplements by foaming at the mouth and drooling all...
I've only had two cats (twins) but if I'm going to get another cat in the future, it would be 2 or more littermates.
They play and fight, but when I see them grooming each other or sleeping together, I'm glad I took them in together.
When I take them to the vet, they comfort each other and go...
I wouldn't add salt because a high sodium level is never good...
Water is the most important thing for cats or living beings, but if he's blocked, that could exacerbate his condition.
Cornsilk (non-alcohol one) has anti-inflammatory properties, though I don't think it's effective for acute pain. Many pain killers are prescription only, such as buprenorphine. Gabapentin is a sedative but also works to alleviate pain I believe. I hope your friend has something 🙂 There's also...
You know him best, so you can probably tell if he was not being himself and he was in pain due to blockage. The way you described him, I'm inclined to think he's not blocked... If you have d-mannose, people say it works for dissolving crystals etc. It would be great if you could also give him...
I totally understand your panic not knowing what's happening and it's the weekend...
Everyone is concerned about his peeing because a urinary blockage is fatal if left untreated for more than 24 hours.
You said he cried in pain when he pooped earlier, which could possibly mean that he was...
I can't help with the anal gland but do you know if he peed in the last 24-48 hours? I hope he's not blocked... if he hasn't been able to pee in the last 24-48 hours, he needs to go to the emergency vet asap.
I got a reply from the manufacturer of ImmoPlex Glandulars 60 Vegicaps.
Because iodine is not typically found in appreciable levels in any of the tissues in the supplement, they haven't tested it specifically for iodine, nor would they expect it to contain significant levels of iodine.
That's yet another supplement I haven't heard of unless that's the same as GAG replacement.
We have used Zylkene, Cystaid/Cystease and I can't see them making any noticeable improvement. Will order some glucosamine chondroitin today 🙂
An expected turn of events happened.
I gave him gabapentin, drove 45 mins and we stayed one night in a hotel room. He was quiet in the car but started peeing blood from 1AM. I expected this to happen.... I just gave him cornsilk since I didn't have any pain killer. Then the following day we...
A book called Raising Cats Naturally by Michelle Bernard lists nutritional value of 100g bone (doesn't say what bone) as 25,000mg calcium, 12,000mg phosphorus, 370mg magnesium, 700mg potassium, 9mg zinc and 0.5mg copper. So I created a new column in the spreadsheet to see how it looks if I...
