Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

Her treats are like jerky pieces, not the dehydrated foods like Stella and Chewy's or anything. She's never seemed to have an issue with them. I know other people use yogurt with their cats with no issues. I just had one guy who was seriously bad with even the thought of lactose, so I moved...

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

I haven't had a chance to go to the little shop that carries Rad Cat yet for some samples, but it's definitely on my list of things to try!

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

@valentine319 : Oh! I didn't even think about trying Greek yogurt on her! I use it for the dogs, but generally avoid anything dairy for the cat. I'll go pick up a cup tonight. I just bust out laughing. I thought I was the only one who believed in this!! Z gets a single Temptations soft middle...

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

Sorry for the lateness! Things got a little crazy around here. @valentine319 : I feed her at 6am, 3pm, and 10pm so she's never going longer than 8 hours between meals. I've also tried giving her a treat at bedtime (around midnight) and another in the morning, but still she vomits at the 3 week...

13 Week Kitten Loss Of Appetite

Oh, if he wasn't into dinner and is refusing stuff flat out, then I'd definitely get him into the vet sooner rather than later. Hope the little guy perks up soon!

    The Raw Diet

@Gatomons I know a bit about kidney disease, mostly what I learned after my previous cat was diagnosed with CKD. I can't speak of how it relates to a raw diet, though I can say that from the research I've done, the very large majority of cats fed even a canned diet do not develop kidney disease...

13 Week Kitten Loss Of Appetite

I would go with the stress of the drilling and strange people being the culprit. It can definitely effect their appetite when they're stressed out, and it's not always as obvious as hiding under the sofa. That said, kittens need their calories. It's been too long since I had a teething kitten...

    Feeding/food Issues

Talking about the supplements in the Raw Feeding forum, it'd be a bit of a stretch for a vitamin supplement being that different from the next. There can't be too much variation between what all is contained in a Vitamin E capsule or how it's processed. The fish oil could be a culprit, and there...

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

I was having a moment... I meant only the raw meals (not the canned meals) or all of her meals. Obviously since she doesn't have problems with canned, I should just try spacing out the raw meals she gets. Currently she's fed three times a day, 2oz each meal. I can definitely break up one meal...

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

I'm thinking I might try the intermittent feeding with the raw and canned. It'll let me use up the raw I've already got made and a few cans of food aren't a huge hardship, either. It is pretty strange! Do you mean spacing out the raw meals or meals in general? I work from home, so it's not a...

    Feeding/food Issues

Having had a CKD cat, I am so not above feeding anyone Fancy Feast, Friskies, or 9Lives if it means they're eating! I just wish the really good stuff was both favored by the cats and infinitely more affordable. And that there were less primarily fish flavors, but I guess that's just me being...

    Feeding/food Issues

Well, the second vet was much less disdainful of the raw diet, and even admitted she's not an animal nutritionist, so I have lots of hope with her. Will definitely be asking for her from now on! That said, we did a full CBC and urinalysis and nothing was present there. They did an x-ray of her...

Is It Worth It To Get A Bloodwork To Check How Your Cats Are Doing On A Raw Diet?

Having just done bloodwork for my raw fed cat, I can tell you that an extended CBC/Blood panel and urinalysis don't tell you a whole lot of anything specific as related to a raw diet. It will give you some numbers to keep as a baseline, which is always a good idea in case something does happen...

    Feeding/food Issues

I've been attempting to switch my 10mo old cat over to a raw food diet for the past couple of months, but keep running into some issues. It was suggested by members of the Raw Feeding forum to post my kitty Z's issues here to see if anyone had any suggestions/opinions on what could be going on...

It happened Monday night. I gave her a couple of days to work it out then made the appointment, but of course by then there was nothing until next week.

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

@Tobermorey She had a full workup for a base line when I first got her, so all the blood work, a urinalysis, the whole shebang. Everything was awesome then, though that was back in March. She does have an appointment Tuesday for an unrelated matter (the goofball thought a flying leap off a...

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

Oh, I agree that there's got to be something somewhere that's the issue and the supplements are a likely culprit. Just seems odd it'd take so long to build up to that point, especially if you take into account loss of nutrients with the freeze/thaw and all that. Since I was concerned about the...

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

Wouldn't it have taken less time than 3 weeks for the supplements to become an issue though? I think I have some chicken thighs for me in the freezer, so I could definitely grind one up and see what happens. I'd be worried about not giving her any supplements long term though.

Could Use Some Advice With Raw Feeding

It really is, and while I normally like a good mystery, this one is just too frustrating. I'll look into a pre/probiotic. I only know of fortiflora, so I'll do some Googling to see what else is out there.
