Cat with worms - put my mind at peace?

Hi all - just wanted to update. Brought Ox to the vet this morning. He got a dose of Profender in office, and Revolution (to be used in a couple of weeks) and some fortiflora to right his GI. Oddly, he seemed totally fine yesterday (though never used his litterbox), so feel grateful to have...

Cat with worms - put my mind at peace?

Thank you! His litter box is kept very clean and we totally switched out the litter and liner after discovering. I'm still trying to determine how he got them: he did catch a mouse about a month ago (didn't kill it) -- but he's an indoor, 4th floor walk-up, NYC kitty, no other pets in the house.

Cat with worms - put my mind at peace?

Hi all, This community has been so wonderful as I've navigated having a cat for the past two years! Asking for your help again: Yesterday I noticed my cat Ox had loose stools which continued on today. I checked the litter box shortly after he went today and noticed small, white, mobile worms...

    Ox stopped eating wet food

Thanks, @Furballsmom, I would have *never* noticed that. Is that an undesirable ingredient? I went out today and bought a whole slew of food. Picked up Stella and Chewy's Freeze Dried Chicken and mixed up about a 1/4 cup for him -- he ate it up immediately. Thanks @FeebysOwner! We actually...

    Ox stopped eating wet food

Hi all, Over the course of the past few months, Ox has become increasingly picky about the wet food he eats (burns out on it quickly, then just stops eating it all together). Of late, he barely touches the wet food and has been primarily eating just dry. Grateful he's still eating, but would...

Ox will not let me sleep. : (

Hi all, It's been a little while since I've posted here. Ox has been an amazing addition to our home and we've finally got him happy and healthy. Yay! Problem is, he's a bit too *active* in the wee hours of the morning. He wakes me up regularly at 3am crying for attention (I'm assuming) and is...

How Often Does Your Cat Poop?

Thanks everyone for all your responses! Since I first began the thread, things have normalized a bit -- more an every other day or so schedule. Phew! Really interesting to read everyone's responses and happy that things seem to have normalized for Ox! Now if we could only kick his ear infection!

How Often Does Your Cat Poop?

Thanks everyone for your responses! I'm wondering if this may be a period of adjustment since, as I mentioned, Ox was eating only Purina dry food at the shelter and is primarily eating grain-free wet now. He has a follow up for his dental surgery on the 19th, so if nothing's changed by then...

How Often Does Your Cat Poop?

I've poked around looking for general advice on this but thought I'd start a new thread. I'm reading a bunch that cats poop once a day. Ox is going about every 4 days. He's eating well (*loves* eating), not throwing up, doesn't seem to struggle when he does, and poop looks normal. Is it...

Ox's Health Woes (dental Extraction, Ear Infections, Herpes) - Please Advise!

Hi all, Just a quick update: Ox is doing *so* much better. Definitely tolerating the metacam better than the buprenex, so we've stopped giving him the latter. He is, for intents and purposes, back to his normal self: begging for food (we're only feeding him wet for the moment), exploring our...

Ox's Health Woes (dental Extraction, Ear Infections, Herpes) - Please Advise!

Thank you so much, @cheeser - this is super helpful. I'm loath to wake him up to feed him (with the Lysine!) and give him his metacam, but I know it's for the best.

Ox's Health Woes (dental Extraction, Ear Infections, Herpes) - Please Advise!

Thank you, @Furballsmom - I'll take a look at the Lysine thread. He's sleeping a bunch now, but often shifting to cover his mouth. : (

Ox's Health Woes (dental Extraction, Ear Infections, Herpes) - Please Advise!

Hi everyone, This site has been invaluable for me this past month, and man . . . it's been a month. Hoping you all can provide some advice: - Ox had 9 teeth extracted yesterday. He still needs more pulled, but was under anesthesia for 3 hours and my vet didn't feel comfortable keeping him...

First Vet Visit Not So Good

Hi all, I posted in the new cat forum a couple of weeks ago about our new shelter cat Ox. He had his first visit today and it was a bummer — I’m so sad he’s in such bad shape and feel awful for him (though happy he has us to take care of him now). He has bacterial and yeast infections in both...

    New Shelter Cat!

Hi all! I haven't forgotten about everyone here (and still read ALL THE TIME for cat advice)! 1. I've attached a picture of Ox - he's doing *just fine*. ; ) 2. I'm happy to say I can be one of the affirming stories about bringing a shelter cat home! To keep things on the shorter side: Ox had...

    New Shelter Cat!

Hi all, Bringing home our new 4-year-old shelter cat, Ox, tomorrow afternoon. Will post a pic when he's settled! I'm a little anxious and am hoping for any tips/tricks to help get him acclimated, as well as affirming stories of bringing home a new, adult cat (I've read enough about all the the...
