Cat food allergies really starting to wear me down :(

Ok— mine have to have dry food bc there’s two of them and they are bigger male cats and we work all day. They get wet food morning and night— but I give them 1 cup of dry to share each day. My vet is hesitant to give my guy anything with fish, but I saw the blue Buffalo limited ingredient with...

Cat food allergies really starting to wear me down :(

Thank you! Good to know about the food! I’ve been hesitant bc I have another cat too so I’ll have to wean both off of current food and onto another. I know it’s not a cheap food either. What are you giving for wet food? Both of mine are super picky. It’s very hard to find a food they’ll both eat.

Cat food allergies really starting to wear me down :(

Did you ever figure out what the allergy was? This is the exact problem I’m going through right now with my 1.5 yr old. He’s had issues since about 8 months also and we also have to give him steroids periodically. We go to vet next week and she wants to put my guy in hydrolyzed dry food for...

    Cat with allergies.

I have an allergic cat to something. He over grooms, chew and pulls out his fur on extremities. He’s already had a steroid shot. This time around he seems to be losing weight, also. My two cats are free fed grain free whole hearted easy digestion with chicken and egg—but our next exclusion...

    Cat overgrooming / fur loss

We’ve thought about the litter at one point but I guess since his last vet visit we’ve focused on the diet. We could revisit that.

    Cat overgrooming / fur loss

Yes, there was relief after steroid and antibiotic. Our vet seems to think bc he had relief with steroid this is a food allergy vs. environmental allergy. She said that our cat would have had to be bathed in dryer sheets or a detergent for him to have the type or reaction he had 2 months ago...

    Cat overgrooming / fur loss

What was the result at the vet? My cat has been doing this for about 6 months or so. We brought to the vet twice. The last time he needed a steroid and antibiotic. Our vet thought my 1 yr old may be allergic to corn, wheat and soy. He’s now on strictly grain free diet but has recently started...

I think my food is causing itchy cat

Thank you!! She said we can reintroduce dry food. They don’t get a lot. I give 1 cup per day for both cats. I have gone back to feeding them the easy digestion chicken and egg dry food from whole hearted. They really love it and it’s what they’d been eating for months before i did transition to...

I think my food is causing itchy cat

Romeo update— vet gave Romeo an antibiotic injection for the sores in his legs from pulling his fur out and a steroid injection in case he’s doing this due to an environmental allergy. We ruled out the dryer sheets and fleas (which we knew already but had her check anyway.). But, my vet thinks...

I think my food is causing itchy cat

We did try pine litter recently but switched back last week when he started the itching again. What’s crazy is my other cat is having zero issues with anything. Tonight I gave them beef wet food from whole hearted but I have to transition slowly bc they’re both addicted to fancy feast like...

I think my food is causing itchy cat

The lysine isn’t new. Both my cats had URIs when I got them at 7 and 12 wks old. They’ve been taking it since for immune Health.

I think my food is causing itchy cat

Im hesitant to think it’s fleas bc he was on Revolution and we just stopped in recently. I actually thought the Revolution was the cause of his issues. We are going to forward pics of his legs to our vet and see what they say. He will need to be given a Xanax or something bc he cannot handle the...

I think my food is causing itchy cat

Looking for insight... my 1 yr old long haired kitty named Romeo has gone through phases of itching then stopped and recently back at it. I gave both he and my other one yr old cat 3 consecutive doses of Revolution starting in June at the vet recommendation even though both are indoor cats. I...

    Cat Food Deals Forum?

Why are they discontinuing the whole hearted grain free limited ingredient chicken dry food? My cats love it! I just found it and it’s a great price. I’m so sad! It’s so hard to find a good food. I’m transitioning my cats to homemade food now bc I can’t keep up with all the pet food companies...

    Itchy Indoor Cat

Yes, I don’t mind stopping the dry food for awhile. It just seems this came on months after they’d been eating this food. I was just reading about limited basic foods for them. I only give them a small amount of the dry food bc I know it’s not great for them and can also dehydrate them. Our vet...

    Itchy Indoor Cat

Hi All! So my almost 1 year old long haired kitty Romeo is itching nonstop. Both he and my other 1 yr old have monthly Revolution treatment. I’ve never seen a flea. The other cat doesn’t itch. I’m starting to get concerned for Romeo. We went to the vet about 3 months ago bc the whites of his...

Amitriptyline experiences? -- cat itching and stressed

My 10 month old kitten is scratching and licking like crazy. Gave both he and my other kitten a Revolution treatment 2 weeks ago. Still unsure if it’s fleas (even with Revolution) or allergies? I did switch up his litter a few weeks ago and we went away for a couple nights. He started itching...

Cat Enema - when will he be “regular” again?

It should. I don’t remember bc my cat was in the hospital when we first figured out what she had so they ran a slew of blood panels. But talk to your vet. They will guide you. Just let them know what your concerns are. Every cat is different just like every human. The experience my cat had could...
