Mookie (GF's cat) moved in in January, so there has been a lot of trial and error the past 3-4 months. One thing has been different wet canned cat food brands/sizes (and yes, I know it's bad to change it up and it's better to stick with one). Generally speaking, I do not catch her drinking...
As a test, I temporarily started mixing water in Mookie's wet food to keep it from drying out. As a secondary benefit, her water intake increased! I also noticed her energy improved.
However, I noticed that when I stopped mixing water in her food, she did not go back to drinking from her water...
Mookie moved into my apartment in January. Due to new surroundings for the first time in 8 years, she wasn't eating much initially (1.3 to 3 oz per day). Now that she's been here a while, she eats more. For example, before leaving for work she had 2.6 ounces of Sheba wet food. When I got home...
Mookie eats only wet food. She seems to like beef-flavor more than all other flavors. And she dislikes fish flavors the most. Should I feed her only beef going forward? Will she have nutritional deficiencies if I do so?
When I'm home all day, such as on weekends, I notice that Mookie does not sleep much if at all while we're hanging out with her. That means she only sleeps when we do, which is around 7-9 hours a night. I'm fairly sure that on work days she sleeps twice that (and I've read 16ish is normal for...
In general and how about this product below? I have it at home unopened but am having second-thoughts and might return it. Should I send it back and get a different one? Are self-cleaning litter boxes not worth it in general?
Mookie is currently 11.4 pounds. She's 15-years old. She eats as little as 3 ounces a day and has peaked at 6 ounces a day. The directions on various different brands of wet food suggest she should be eating about 9-12 ounces of wet food per day.
:noway:
How about your cats?
Feel free to vote in the poll too.
For wet food only (Mookie eats only wet food), where does this community stand with meal-feeding versus grazing/free-feeding? I've read that the main benefit to having your cat graze or have food available all the time is that it's easiest on schedules...
Is it ok to use parmesan cheese to get a cat to take their pill? I tried it last night and it worked amazingly.
Backstory:
Cat has UTI. Two weeks of antibiotic pills (ending this Friday PM). 2x a day. First week was easy. Pill in treat and she ate it up quickly. 2nd week and she...
Hi, this is Mookie. She's a 15-year old Calico. While I've known her for a couple of years, my girlfriend brought her over to my place only in mid-January. First-time I've had a cat in my home. Love her old cat ways.
I had one. I read online the N+1 rule (you should own one more litter box than you have cats; for example: 1 cat means you should have 2 litter boxes, 3 cats means you should have 4 litter boxes, etc.).
We have one cat, so I subsequently setup a second litter box near the other one. I think...
Hello,
First time poster.
My girlfriend's cat got a burn from a radiator. Per some internet searches, apparently this is actually quite common in NYC. That radiator has since been covered. I'm curious if it's normal for the scab to take weeks to heal and to look so ugly and painful as it...
