Sadly... My little guy had the same reaction to all of the hyperthyroidism meds.. Even the gel . When my guy was vomiting he would refuse to eat for days...maybe give the gel another day or two to see if kitty adjusts to it. You can also ask your vet about all natural drops called thyroid gold...
Sadly and with a heavy heart, I helped my boy cross the rainbow bridge this morning. Some time last night we believe he had a stroke.. He made an attempt to jump on the bed and missed twice, wouldn't eat, only drank constantly... Then this morning he would not come out from under the bed.. Once...
Thank you for taking time to respond to my post.. Sadly I had to let my boy cross the rainbow bridge this morning.. We believe he had a stroke some time last night and was just not well this .. So as to not let him suffer any longer, I took him first thing after I got home from work..
Other therapies as in what? Iodine treatment is too expensive, we tried the methamazole, the gel form and pills..he would take it/allow it to be applied and at the 10 day mark he would get so sick..wouldn't eat or drink, would hide, vomitting for days at a time (which caused more weight loss)...
Thank you for the kind words :) The reason for the him not taking the meds isn't that I cant get him to take it, just that he can't tolerate them...he would take the pills for 10 days and then get deathly ill...vomitting, lethargic, meatloafing and hiding for a couple days. That happened both...
I am struggling with what to do with my hyperthyroid boy (14 yo with heart murmur, dental issues)...he can't take the meds (triend the pill and gel), doesn't like the thyroid food, so I am trying the thyroid gold drops for the time being, but I still can't help but feel I am putting him thru...
So sorry to hear this :( I am struggling with what to do with my hyperthyroid boy...he can't take the meds, doesn't like the thyroid food, so I am trying the thyroid gold drops for the time being, but I still can't help but feel I am putting him thru hell just to keep him alive. Some days are...
And his main issue was vomiting after the meds.. so then he wouldn't eat at all...now his appetite is back with a vengeance and he eats his canned Purina grain free and blue buffalo food with no problem..hopefully it won't be too hard for me to get him to take the drops..he knows when something...
Yes..my boy, when healthy, was 12.5 ish pounds... he's down to about 7.5 lbs now.. but he's had a plethora of health issues hit him at once..he has bad teeth, heart murmur, got a cold on top of it all, had bad reactions to the methamazole pills and ear gel..so I am crossing my fingers that this...
I just ordered this..seems to be a good option for us to try since we have basically hit a wall when it comes to treatment. I'd rather spend the money on this then canned food he refuses to eat (science diet thyroid ... $50+ for 24 cans) wish us luck that it helps (even a little)
Can you please tell me what thyroid gold is? My 14 yo boy has hyperthyroidism and can’t toler the meds and doesn’t like the thyroid food after a couple feedings..I’m feeling hopeless at this point, so I am willing to try just about anything. Thanks
So sorry to hear this about Kitty :( My 14 yo boy was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a few months ago. We tried all of the meds offered(didn't tolerate pills or gel) and are now on the food (which he now won't eat) UGH..so I guess I just mix other food with the thyroid and hope it helps even a...
It is just crazy...he’s so darn picky. I know he’s only supposed to eat that food and NOTHING else, but I had to cave and add a little chicken broth to the food to get him to eat. He’s so darn hungry for something tasty, I may just add the gravy from the cheap store food...I can’t let this...
Just FYI..it may be the thyroid meds that are making Molly sick. When taking the pills and then the transdermal, gel it was around or on day 10 that my boy started vomiting...even after taking nausea meds. He wouldn’t eat for about 24 hrs because any little bit he ate, he threw up so we had to...
We tried both pill and transdermal gel...my old guy couldn’t handle either. The gel was in a super low dose too. Now we’re trying the thyroid food..which he is doing ok with so far, but he’s not a huge fan of it. We have the canned, but I think I’m going to get a small bag of dry too. He’s...
well...he's FINALLY keeping food down now..so i am giving him a little bit every hour and hopefully he'll be good from now on. I am making a vet appointment tomorrow to see what we can do from this point forward. Sadly, the iodine option is not going to be possible (expense wise and due to his...
Is that the iodine treatment? My guy can't even tolerate the transdermal gel...started vomiting again Thursday, had a brief reprieve yesterday and back to vomiting again today. Trying to get him in to the vet tomorrow to see what we can figure out. Sadly, with his heart murmur, we may be...
We had the same reaction when my 14 yo boy got the hyper thyroid meds..sadly BOTH forms have made him sick now I'm at a loss as to what to do. We can't afford the iodine treatment, and don't want to put him thru anymore added stress since he has a significant heart murmur. Gonna take him to...
