    Problems with Purina Pro Plan??

I feel like foil breaks too easily and isn't safe as food packaging. I've received ones from Chewy covered in maggots and stunk so badly I don't even know how they willfully ignored the smell to pack that into my order. I stopped ordering any foil top packs since.

Potential food allergy – need recommendations for a new food

No fish wise, Rawz could be an option. And I love that they have all their analysis listed on their site. Wellness CORE Signature Selects Shredded Poultry has no fish but contains tapioca starch and guar gum... I don't have much luck in getting my cats to eat healthier either, the best I could...

Potential food allergy – need recommendations for a new food

You can give Stella & Chewy's freeze dried food a try(does kelp count as seafood?). My cats will eat some of their flavors, but I think quality varies from batch to batch. Instinct also has limited ingredients wet food.

Very fussy cat with allergies, what should I feed him

Just a note that chicken is actually a commonly allergic food for cats, surprisingly, as well as beef, fish, and dairy per mentioned by Biomehanika. If he is allergic, try turkey, lamb or rabbit. You'll have to check the ingredient list to see what is specifically in the food. Sometime they'll...

One cat stalking and attacking the other, please help

I second this. We went this approach with our senior girl and new young male. Once her confidence is boosted, she started fighting back. Heck, she will randomly initiate an attack and scare the crap out of our new male. That kind of got their relationship sorted. Not sure in your case, if...

    Helping cat through VACATION trauma

I had a cat that would stop eating for a day or two when I traveled. He's familiar with my parents whom I used to live with and there's not much else I could do. He got used to it with time after a few more trips. I agree with @Kris107 that they do learn that you will come back. The first time...

    Rescue cat - refeeding syndrome?

Sounds awfully like my last experience when I brought a stray in for neutering and adoption at a huge no-kill shelter. They won't give any updates whatsoever, won't let me foster, and said to just check their website for updates on adoption. I still emailed and called them anyway, luckily one...

Cat isn’t too fond of other cats

Oh, I didn't know that females are more prone to territory issues. We have a gang of 3 old ladies who always have each other's back, introduced them to 2 dominant neutered males at different times with no problems. However, our most recent introductions did not work out at all even though we did...

Fresh straw in winterized boxes BUT no takers. Any advice?

Already tried and failed. I blocked the cooler entrance with bricks, the raccoon got so upset it threw the bricks to the ground, even removed the frame on the circular entrance, and made a mess of the straw(a proper temper tantrum lol). We have our strays on a feeding schedule and motion-sensing...

Fresh straw in winterized boxes BUT no takers. Any advice?

I officially have one resident raccoon. This raccoon didn't leave the cooler shelter until 7am, and came back to sleep again at 10am. Sometimes there are 2 at night, one in A-frame and one in cooler. Cats don't dare to use the shelters anymore  We are contemplating taking them down.

Fresh straw in winterized boxes BUT no takers. Any advice?

I'm having the same issue. Our strays won't use the cooler shelter but love the K&H A-frame house. The two shelters are set up side by side. When it starts getting dark they would race each other to the A-frame and see who gets it. I think they just don't like enclosed spaces and would rather...

Advice on keeping other animals away from my ferals

Yes, Blink works without Alexa. One thing to note is that Blink might stop recording/detecting motion after a period of time if you don't have a subscription. You'll have to choose between paying or just using the camera for live view.

    swollen chin?

Hi @snoworeo , the antibiotic injection got rid of her swollen chin. I'm pretty sure now she's allergic to chicken. It's never happened again after we stopped giving her real chicken meat and also switched her to non-chicken food.

    Wintering feral in Minnesota

I'll be getting a cooler shelter for the girl(aka socks) and setting it against a fence. Not sure about the chunky boy(aka chunky boy) yet. He measures around 22-23" from head to butt, and has the biggest head I've ever come across. I'm still trying to find a shelter that will fit him...

    Wintering feral in Minnesota

Got it. I'm going to go on a search for free pallets. I'm also thinking about using cinder/concrete blocks since they are pretty affordable at home depot, and maybe adding a strap to secure the shelter from strong wind.

    Wintering feral in Minnesota

Sorry to butt in, should the shelter be raised in case of snow? We don't get a lot of snow where we live, and when it does snow, we get 5-6" or less. I think our strays have a hiding place somewhere in the neighborhood, likely the abandoned house nearby, but I want to get them some shelter just...

Cat threw up hairball with red bits

Thanks for the responses! I thought it could be something they hunted but wasn't sure. (...earthworm would have been better ) @Furballsmom I haven't thought about lysine. I used to give lysine to my previous cats with URI years ago, did help from what I can tell. Thanks for the advice!

Cat threw up hairball with red bits

Hi, I'm currently helping my parents with their stray cats. Today one of the cats threw up this mix of a hairball, food, earthworm(?) and very red bits. I don't know if this is a cause for concern or if the bits are just 'raw meat'? I didn't see which one threw up, but they came back for dinner...

A raccoon keeps stealing our outside cat food

Oof, we don't have bears around, hope you find a way to deter the bears. We sprinkle peanuts in the backyard everyday so the raccoons know to scavenge there and just started leaving meals out for them regularly.

A raccoon keeps stealing our outside cat food

My mom has the same problem. For some reason, these raccoon moms always show up at my mom's house after they had the babies and a lot of times in broad daylight! There used to be a raccoon that would even take naps in her backyard after eating. My mom has the raccoons eat in the backyard and the...
