    Remembering Krista

I just read through your other thread about Krista's care and this one. Her thread was always a regular stop for me on this site. I could not stop myself from crying as I read through. I am so sorry. I am heartbroken to hear this news, but not half as much as I am sure you are... You were such a...

Thanks! It was a softer poop than normal and the next day she had a little diarrhea. So maybe it was a sign of things to come. Hasn't happened again, though, so hopefully its just a once in a while type of thing.

Does anyone have advice on this? This is the second or third time its happened. She was pooping today, but it was still hanging out of her butt (like a good 2" log) when she tried burying it in the box. Then she stepped out of the box and had to rub her butt on the floor to get the poop off. :(...

Knocking on wood...we're doing fine here. Amber played with her orange ball yesterday and today. 🧡 She'll be on cisapride longterm and the Mirtaz was very helpful for getting her to eat. She's back up to 9 lbs now! Longterm we hope she will continue eating on her own without needing Mirtaz. We...

Therapists/grief counseling for dealing with cat loss?

I am so sorry you're going through this. After my first cat died, I was depressed for six months before I went to speak to a counselor who helped me so much. I also carried a lot of guilt, of thinking if only I had noticed she was sick or something was wrong sooner, if only I'd taken her to the...

    Krista's Care

You've been so helpful I wanted to come check in on my second-favorite calico cat! She is such an adorable little one. She looks really good after her surgery! You are doing a wonderful taking care of her. :hearthrob: Just want to give some encouragement and positive vibes to you and Krista...

Well yes that's true. I do hope she eventually associates wet food with good feelings and wants it all the time. I gave her Mirtaz 0.5" again after my post. I do have to correct myself: the label says to give "as needed". Then I took a shower. When I came back my partner told me she'd been in...

Right I did read about its non-cat use a bit... I wasn't given specific instructions by the vet to give it regularly (or not) nor was it mentioned if it should be tapered on or off, but that makes sense. Most anti-depressants I know of in humans at least are not meant to be stopped abruptly...

I think that it was the Mirtaz in the end. She did really well this weekend. Ate 2 cans of wet food per day. Had an amazing poop Saturday night - Sunday morning. Meowed at us in the middle of the night for more food.... except for last night. No poops since that amazing one. And very little...

Amber's got a few more frequent smaller meals today. The mirtaz definitely kicked in last night. She delighted in her allotted 1/8 cup kibble around 9pm. Overnight, she ate 1/2 can of beef (served in 1/4 can upstairs and 1/4 can downstairs). Then came and meowed very loudly at us over and over...

I'm planning to do exactly that starting tonight! Just got more of the Chicken Applaws today. Tonight's update- she finished most of 1/2 can today and stayed out from under the bed the rest of the day. Spoke to vet - advised to give Cerenia and Mirtaz, so I did so. She has not seemed any...

    best tasting soft food?

If you're worried about the meat-by-products, look for the Fancy Feast Naturals pate line. I recently discovered this line. They don't contain meat-by-products, though they do contain "natural flavors" which can be almost just as ambiguous an ingredient.

I do sometimes feel like every time I post a positive update, things go downhill which is why I waited two days before updating with the good news. Guess I spoke too soon. She came downstairs around 10am, so I assume she was under the bed from 8-ish to 10-ish though I didn't check on her...

addendum to my prior post - ..or that certain foods are giving her tummy pain? This morning she got her cisapride in a small amount of tuna, then hid under the bed. She came out briefly to eat some wet turkey. Yesterday, she ate 1/8 cup Go kibble, turkey wet food and beef wet food and...

aaaand this morning she sounded like she was throwing up but produced nothing. She hasn't had a properly formed poop since Tuesday and now I am worrying she is getting constipated again. She hid under the bed briefly this morning after I gave her cisapride in some food. If she is, I just don't...

Good news tonight! I was holding back til we had more than one good day. Yesterday, she must have eaten 1 3/4 of a can of wet food just during the day! She played with her orange ball. She did her morning meows at me. One of her bowls of wet food left overnight was licked clean this morning...

    Miralax/lactulose

Hi there! Sorry your cat had this after bup & other things! I hope its a one time thing for you, too! Its hard to say how long it stays in the system, but I've seen lactulose work on my cat anywhere from 30 minutes to not really at all. (30 minutes based on - she hadn't pooped in 2 days and...

Here's today's report. She ate some wet food (tuna/trout mixed with beef) overnight as well as some Go! kibbles. I split the wet food between 2 bowls - one upstairs and one down. She nearly emptied the upstairs bowl last night. Again, today, I gave her 2 wet food bowls and she licked the...

@daftcat75 - thanks. That's how we got her started on wet food a few years back. She only nibbled it and would only eat fish flavors. I almost feel like we're starting over again now. Thanks for the advice and encouragements! I will set small goals and try not to worry too much about the future...

What kind of worm is this!?

Yuck. If a hammerhead shark were a worm it would look like that... :barfgreen: I wonder how your cat ingested that. But stranger things have certainly happened. Does your cat seem to feel fine otherwise?
